No need for apologies.

I just thought it'd be probably more appropriate to list synths which qualify for the criterias in this thead, because there's already loads of threads which cover the pure freeware. KVR also offers the respective databse and search options, and also a "popularity meter".

For effects there was also the jb legacy vst bundle (legacy Toneboosters payware plugins). Not sure if it's still downloadable anywhere.
