I'm almost afraid to post an S1 thread...

I have no idea why everybody bashes on S1, but perhaps you'd be better off just switching to a DAW that nobody EVER bashes, like, oh say:
Sonar
Cubase
Pro Tools
FLS
Reaper
Logic
Live
Bitwig
Those DAWs are all pretty much perfect in most people's eyes and you'd have to dig long and hard to find any negative comments about any of them.

See? The problem is purely and solely the internet, and the talentless people who can't just use one thing without ranting about the other. Won't say that i'm not guilty of that too sometimes, but, really, there are people you'd think who do that for a living. Never heard Hans Zimmer rant about another DAW.

I'm using Podium........
There are lots of threads about it here
My "want to have one day" host is Renoise, another KVR favourite

In my observation being a forum user at Personus since 2011 the issues with version 3 seem to be a little more prevalent, even more than when it was an open forum.
I myself passed this upgrade because the DAW took an direction that I felt was not needed(at least in my case). Version 2.6 seems about right in my humble opinion.
Things change sometimes better for some and I'm afraid a lot worst for others.

The fact that anyone is afraid to post anything is sad. The fact that this forum has come to this point just shows that KVR is slowly becoming Gearslutz.
I love you guys, but the lot of you go overboard at times.
There's nothing wrong with Studio One. Preferably, I'm a Cubase guy and I tried Studio One. It had some awesome features (like the scratch pad.....I'll wait for the bashing to begin) but there were a few omissions that I couldn't work without so I sold it after a month.
That said: It doesn't matter how you make the music. What matters is the end result. To quote Chris Lord Alge "No one is going to die."

So lets recap.
People complain about Product = bad
People complain about People (who complain about Product) = good ?
Its complaining any way you cut it up. The internet is full of it so you guys should get used to it, or just get off the internet. Stop complaining about the complaints, cause youre complaining, and now youve got me doing it too
Viva la internet!

People who find any excuse to complain about a product, in EVERY thread that pops up about said product, whether the thread has anything to do with said complaints, and no matter how innocent the OP's post is = bad.
Complaints can about a product are often a GOOD thing, and can serve to improve a product. I welcome honest criticisms!

i know it's kind of a lame thing to say, but if we all used our sound editors as much as word editors i bet we'd do less complaining about forums and such.
i kind of get the OP's suggestion that there is more control placed on the forums at presonus but mods and i totally feel the influence on the discussions and tensions. it's almost as if certain themes get a "no, this is how it is" curt response.
i guess that it's because they was to keep things less murky for potentially new customers, which makes sense. maybe they could just make a new topic for more opinionated discussions. didn't REAPER do something like that a while ago? or was that just for off-the-wall-bat-s**t-crazy stuff?
basically, i can empathize with the OP's post but i don't agree with allowing other users to overly influence your actions or decisions. It's easy to get bogged down in desires and green grass, but no matter what host you have there is a stupid amount of potential and possibility.

Actually, not to stick up for PreSonus or their forum, but I don't expect much criticism on ANY manufacturer's own website. As a matter of fact, anyone that goes to a manufacturer's own website for reviews to base their purchase decision on gets what they deserve.
So yeah, I don't like some of the gestapo tactics on some manufacturer's websites, but I fully expect it on most.

Steinberg really pisses off it's own customer base. It's quite funny at times. I've seen lots of criticism there.

Yeah man, i bet Hans Zimmer is so pissed off at Steinberg that he visits, and rants daily on their forums. Or was he actually busy using their stuff? Can't remember, as i slightly lost my sense of realism only lurking in forums, thinking i represent the whole "customerbase", and that my opinion was so important that i always feel neglected when they don't immediately implement a feature i suggested, which i believe everyone needs, because i feel like i need it.xphen0m wrote: Steinberg really pisses off it's own customer base.
But seriously, do you really think that the companies feel like a forum poster who rants about every single thing about their software is more relevant to them as artists, or people visiting their stand on a trade show? Also, i keep asking myself wtf is it about this first world attitude these days. Back in the days, people made the most out of shit. Nowadays, it's like a paradise compared, and people complain about minor stuff, which gets in their way. And everyone thinks his minority opinion is so important that he expects the company to implement feature XY noone but him wants, but has to be implemented yesterday. Sad times really. It sounds like a cliché when someone posts "Make more music and care less" for the thousandth time, but, it's so true.
Yes yes, complaining about the complaining, yet i do believe that the people's attitude is at fault, not the software. And if you really can't work with the software, scratch it. Easiest thing in the world. But mind that there is no such thing as perfection. But if everything sucks, then the problem surely isn't the software.

I agree with you. In programming, there's never such a thing as a perfect code job. There's always going to be issues. There are things that I don't like about Cubase, but I've found it's the best DAW for me. Now if only I can get it to stop occasionally crashing when I close a project. Probably related to a vst, but it doesn't happen often enough for me to worry over it. Other than that, 8.5 Pro has been rock solid for me.chk071 wrote:Yeah man, i bet Hans Zimmer is so pissed off at Steinberg that he visits, and rants daily on their forums. I do EDM and I am still on a Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz and I have no problems, I can make a song from start to finish.SLiC wrote:As I said in another thread, I sold my cubase 8 and wavelab (been with cubase 6 years) as I much prefer the workflow in S13. I have no CPU issues on Windows, in fact no issues at all; it just works.
To me it is the best DAW for recording live/real instruments (comping, melodyne etc)m I can pretty much get to whatever I need with one click (never a need to open a new window) and it is realy fast to navigate and pretty easy to learn. Be able to serial and parallel fx and VSTis to make new powerful multis is pretty cool (although I still prefer BWS for loop based EDM or modular mayhem!...
