I disagree about the videos but I also agree the manual, Kraznets videos are well beyond comprehensive and have come through for me on every single occasion I have had a question, the forum is no nonsense but one can get a lot of answers there (even from Bob Katz at times). The manual needs to far more in depth, it just describes what the feature is and just a basic description at that, it really needs to be written by a professional because samp is so in depth itself. (at ten years I still keep learning by discovery, which tbh is fine by me but that wouldn't work well with others who dont have a laid back schedule like myself).goldenanalog wrote:+1 for this, too - steep learning curve.inkwarp wrote:the major problem with Sam is there is hardly any (cogent and useful) documentation especially thorough basics introduction). there are one or two users who post stuff on youtube etc but it is not comprehensive enough to be of value. even though i love the sound ( it really does sound fab to my ears, it's bespoke plugins are probably the best you can get) but this lack of clear help just leaves you feeling incredibly frustrated. you can see how great it is, but it's really laborious trying to find the editing and features that you get in all other main DAWs. i think it's a shame, they could really get a large slice of the marketing pie if only they would address the lack of educational material.
that said it is great software; as an audio sequencer alone it is extremely powerful.
It should be noted that PX2S is the 'cheaper' version of Sequoia:

I must point out though back about 13 years ago I bought a book for 30 dollars on Adobe Audition which I thought would really help me understand AA more and help me learn to be better at mixing, recording and mastering. Instead the book was just a more wordy version of the manual with no more insight, in fact it mirrored the samp manual in it's lack of going one step further.
I would like to mention that I think one problem for me is I tend to overthink things, the answer is far more simple than I think in most cases and I find a lot of
Samp Pro is not a beginners DAW and I can tell from my own mixes that with so much available it's easy to FSU fast, but once you get past that learning curve the power is immense. Dont count out the midi, I love the piano roll with it's option to change velocity by raising the height of the event vertically, you can also use the lollipop sticks like in other piano rolls but I love this feature because it sounds the note as you're dragging it up and down. Drag open the track extremely wide and then you can really fine tune multi-velocity samples DKFH and such.
Another feature (which any DAW can have) is comparisonics, an audio wave is represented in colors by pitch. At first this may not sound like much but if you want to set up a punch point (which samp has multi auto-punch points) you can pinpoint where you want it by zooming in. This is a third party company so any DAW can add this feature. Also audio and midi sharing the same track is very cool, in ten years I can count on one hand how many times I have opened the wave editor, just about everything can be done to the audio track in place which is handy and like I said before freezing is the best bounce to track I have used. Even better you can freeze objects and instruments so with multi-output instruments freeze is a quick "bounce each track of the instrument to it's audio track in place".
But yes much of this you have to go searching for answers on, a better manual would be awesome though it would make War and Peace look like a comic book. One downside is the track comping needs work, but I do not work in that manner anyhow. However burning right to a CD is pretty simple and again the effects and DP plugins are really top notch...imo well worth the extra price of the suite.
BTW for the OP who complained about the dark scheme, Pro X2 (all the Pro series) are skinnable and have light colored skins that come with it or at what I consider to be costly more skins from third party companies.

of course, sell them to old ones with discount
