Same here, quite decent free instruments and no need for an up to date computer.
A jazz example,
Very nice! Love those chords and your tasteful playing! Very well done!

Here's some of my stuff: https://soundcloud.com/shadowsoflife. If you hear something you like, I'm looking for collaborators.

I still use some Digital Sound Factory SF2 packs and also some from the MaxSynths Cryologic SF2 set :)
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

Made in LMMS using only free sf2.
That's a nice piece! I left some comments on SC.

What's LMMS?

Steve
Thanks! :) LMMS is Linux MultiMedia Studio, which is a Linux clone of FL Studio. It's free and I wanted to see if I could come up with something good using only this software and free soundfonts.

There is an ocean of SF2 files, but many of them are useless crap. So, the point is to find a good ones.
I used SF2's in this song, except hammond (AZR3 - free VSTi). I can't remember the names of all SF2's but I know for sure that drums are SF2 called "Ellade.sf2" and you can google it. I mean, it was done in Fruity Loops 4.16 ages ago, but I remember the name of that SF2 because I used it many, many times...
