Yep. +1
Then it would be a group track . I want it to be a single mono or stereo track .
i didn't write it proper, you can set the group out as an input of a new audio track and record that on the audio track.
Ok cool .It works . Thanks a ton !! :)

You can also physically patch stereo outs to a single input via Y connector.
Are you serious? Worst advice ever.
Outputs are low impedance and always must be connected to a high impedance input. If you tie the two outputs together (with a Y cable or mono cable), each output will try to drive the other, which can force them beyond the safe current limit and possibly into short circuit. At minimum, you will experience a severe loss of signal. Worst case; you can damage your IO Interface.

Absolutely. Do it all the time on my 2408. Look outside of the box and see it is an 8x8 .25" patchbay. Not unlike connecting to/from a patchbay or your board's (or deck's) 8x8 tape bus.

This article saved me about an hour of writing about why tying two outputs together with a Y-connector is an incredibly bad idea.

Great info but nothing there about patchbays. Patchbays are signal splitters not unlike a Y connector.

Best way to confirm it works or not is to try it yourself. Record and share your experience. I'll replace your 2408 if it fails while trying to function as a proper signal splitting patchbay.

A patch bay is a passive jack-jack field used to connect inputs and outputs from audio equipment scattered around the studio into one convenient location.

The analog outputs on the 2408 are just that: audio outputs. It may look like a patch bay to you but it isn't. Mixing two audio outputs together with a simple Y-connector can short the amplifiers behind those connectors.

Wish I knew how to post a video.

This reminds me of what adults used to say when I would repeatedly slip-cue 45s and manipulate the volume knob to approximate an instrument solo. Now its called music.
