Oh definitely; Mr. Bill does some great stuff. Does a great job with sound design in particular and I really dig the chordal structure--amazingly, all with only a computer keyboard. His how-to vids are excellent.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:Don't know if this is your 'thing', but I'm really diggin' Mr.Bill

it's a good start. try being disappointed in continually more obscure artists with vaguer promises of relevancy, until there are no horizons offering novel recordings whatsoever. it's possible you may prolong the process to the extent that you die before you're entirely disappointed by the lot, but if you apply yourself, you may yet enjoy a lengthy vital period of absolute disinterest in anything a recording artist is doing.
attention is the most valuable commodity in the universe. it's a shame we've been accustomed to dispensing of it so readily and with such persistent desperation.

I like how Shakespeare put it best:xoxos wrote:it's a good start. try being disappointed in continually more obscure artists with vaguer promises of relevancy, until there are no horizons offering novel recordings whatsoever. it's possible you may prolong the process to the extent that you die before you're entirely disappointed by the lot, but if you apply yourself, you may yet enjoy a lengthy vital period of absolute disinterest in anything a recording artist is doing.

"O God! methinks, it were a happy life,
To be no better than a homely swain;
To sit upon a hill, as I do now,
To carve out dials quaintly, point by point,
Thereby to see the minutes how they run:
How many make the hour full complete,
How many hours bring about the day,
How many days will finish up the year,
How many years a mortal man may live."
Life is too short to listen to the overhyped pablum while wasting precious, limited time to find the good stuff.
Thanks to everyone for the recommendations.

Idk if it will be your thing, but I really really love Photophob. He's one of my favorite producers ever despite having like 3 fans. If you check out one thing of his, make it Music For Spaceports LP, which I think qualifies as some sort of idm. I also second the recommendation for Wisp. I quite like In a Blue Face. For more extreme glitchy stuff, check out Ikipr and Xanopticon.

Yup! The tut's are excellent. Even considered becoming an 'abletoneer' (still might), despite being a logic pro userk-tronix wrote:Oh definitely; Mr. Bill does some great stuff. I find watching him work to be a meditative experience. He seems to use ableton like a tracker, not only in his use of the 'qwerty', but in the way he builds his tunes up, beat-by-beat. I'm guessing you've seen his starting of a current collaborative project?

Check out Karsten Pflum as well - he can sound very similar to RDJ. Also Jodey Kendrick and Wisp.
