Music itself is formula - in itself music is just organised sound/noise.
How formulaic you want to take that though.. Take (showing my age) the team of Stock Aitken Waterman from the 80's who had a recipe for their string of hits - even though they had various different clothes horses singing, you could always tell it was one of their songs from the first 10 seconds.
Then there's this

Is electronic music formula?

Who cares as long as the video has lesbian bondage and baphomet poses, right? ...
Get a snazzy logo and do some marketing/spam ...
It's just stupid ...
Why bother with all that hard work, learning and experimentation crap. Most don't want a relationship with sound, but just to look good and gain status ...
Youtube is slowly changing into a corporate, lazy cash grab ...
You can now make more money by being young and conventionally attractive on musical.ly by doing f**k all than you can stand any chance of making money off of talent ...

Do people even listen to edm anymore? I accumulated a fairly large trance collection from late 90s-2000s, but all that dried up for me a long time ago.In these observations, I see a recipe for artistic stagnation. Are these edm moguls really trying to connect with people on a personal level, and enrich cultural dialogues, or are they just trying to sell me a product?
Are you talking about virtual labels or what?
Record companies used to lone you capital, like a bank to finance you until you earned enough clout to legally re-negotiate.
....................Don`t blame me for 'The Roots', I just live here.
