Avenger will cost (probably) under 199, and there is Serum and Massive, so choose a competitive price. How about $69?parawave wrote:I don't know. Maybe you could come up with a price tag?

Don't think this one will be less than 99 usd, somewhere between 99 and 129 feels fair. With 79 as an introductory price
Even though Wiggle isn't the same kind of synth, I see the same kind of "uniqueness" in RAPID, and Wiggle is 99 usd.

Perhaps a short time promotion and beta testing offer for $99 then after for $129. Like Hive when firstly launched.

Interesting approach to ask the community what a fair price would be. I would say $29 then.
But, frankly, if you take a look at competing products, you will see pretty quickly what a "competetive" price will be. I would say a competetive price would be rather like $149. But then... if you want to do us all a favour, go sub-$99.
It's a question if the devs get food on the table like that though.

While I would love to cite you a low price, the businessman and teacher in me just can't do it. Pricing IS business strategy -- something to be planned.parawave wrote: I don't know. Maybe you could come up with a price tag?
Customers will always request a lower price. And bluntly, music software developers routinely undercharge for their software. If Parawave is going to deliver on its promises, then it's entitled to ask for profitable price in exhange for the value it's offering. It's also a mistake to simply copy the price of what other developers are offering, but at least it will align you to market expectations.
Based on the specs I see here, and setting a price based on similar offerings, most customers (if they're being realistic) would expect to pay between $150 - 250 for this. I'd consider pricing it at the high end, around $250, but no less than $200 if you can't stomach charging $250. Unless you're into discounting to drive sales, don't offer it for $150.
Edit: trimmed length

Agree with your post, but i don't know if devs are really undercharging their audio apps... at least i find it quite a steep hurdle to pay $150 - $200 for a software synth. To quote Rolf Wöhrmann, developer of the Waldorf Nave synth, a software synth shouldn't cost more than $100/100 €. I know, in the end, Nave for VST/AU cost 149, but i guess that's also because you pay for the Waldorf tag.
Difficult to say what would be a "fair" price for a software synthesizer plugin. Of course, it won't sell as well as a video game, which sells for 49-59 €, but, the develpment costs aren't comparable with nowadays 10s or hundreds of million game productions either. This synth looks pretty complex though, so i would expect a price equal to Avenger, or Nexus. For a "typical" VA synth, with features comparable to nowadays synths, i would rather see a price of 99 €, not 149 and higher. For example, i didn't know why u-he charge 149 for Hive. That's a rather 99 €-ish synth for me. If even. Same with Sylenth1.

Both are going to be great synths and each will have a place in the market. While close to features on paper, there are some differences that stand out.recursive one wrote:Avenger has about 100 times more features, Rapid seems to cater people who basically need ready to use sounds with some tweakabilty and don't want to go really deep.MirkoVanHauten wrote:did you got inspired by the Avenger from Vengeance Sound or vice versa? and Mirko worked for them. both synths are pretty similar. what's unique in Rapid?
For example just a few right off the bat:
Rapid has space for 24 (8 x 3) oscillators or multisamples
Avenger has 8 oscillator slots (which chance for more layers via the multisamples)
Rapid has massive style step performer modulation (advantage = faster results)
Avenger has MSEG modulations (advantage = more flexible)
Best solution is to get both

The wold is flooded with wavetable synths as of now (well, it's flooded with every kind of synth, basically, but especially sample based, subtractive and wavetable). Depending on the quality and features of the synth (like the possibility to mess with the wavetables, the kind of morphing, etc.) I may be interested, but I would not pay more than $129,00 - with $99,00 as my jump-in price. I gave up of Icarus because of the price (I never paid more than $99,00 for any Tone 2 synth, and if I ever get Icarus it will be for that or less).
Princing it upper $200,00 would be crazy, and a suicide, IMO. I don't even comment on the prices of something like Nexus, or Avenger. For something like $250,00 you can get Falcon, for example, and you get a voucher of $100,00. Anyway, I am thinking in buying something else right now, and for less than $99,00, and it's something fresher than this.

$129-149 is a fair price with a $99 early adopter intro pricing (release date through Black Friday would work for huge sales).
I love the specs but $179 would seem high for a new dev no matter how experienced or good the product.
