Of course it doesn't work the other way round as v2 simply offers more.

Grrrrrr!!! Except everything is different. It has different oscillators. It has different filters. It has different envelopes. It has different everything.

Again, you didn't answer my question. Do you own both? Hell, do you even own ONE of them?

Is it just me or is this guy infuriating as hell?

I sold DUNE 1 because it became redundant with DUNE 2. If money is not an issue I would recommend D2 for the reasons mentioned earlier.

Create a fairly complex patch in Dune (no sawtooth through a LP filter) and then try to recreate the same patch in Dune 2 and then record them both, put 'em up on Soundcloud or wherever and let us know just how many hoops you had to jump through to get them to sound as close as they do, if you even can.

I'd do it but I no longer have Dune.

Wags.....any patch you can do on DUNE 1 you can do better in DUNE 2. Can you replicate every patch that's done in D1 100% ? No but like I said they can be done better. As soon as I got D2 I never loaded D1 again......hence the sale.

Yeah, I get that. And that was my point. You can't duplicate a patch from Dune 1 exactly in Dune 2, not that you would want to because Dune 2 is just a superior synth. It's like making a better patch in Discovery Pro than in Synth1. They're both, supposedly, Virus emulations, but you can't possibly compare the one to the other as Discovery Pro blows Synth1 out of the water.

On the discoDSP site it says Discovery Pro can load Nord Lead 2 sys ex data, I don't see a mention of Virus there.

Okay, what's the other Virus or Nord Lead emu? I know there are two for each. I may be getting Synth1 and Discovery Pro mixed up with two other synths.

Okay, just looked it up. Both Discovery Pro and Synth1 "supposedly" emulate a Nord Lead.

No way in hell do you get the same sounds out of Synth1 that you get out of Discovery Pro. It's not even a contest.

One thing that was great in Dune1 is not the same in Dune2, which is that the FM knob in v1 fed into the oscillator to make some great tonal variations. In Dune2 the FM is a completely separate module, and can't create that same kind of thing. Though I like the v2 FM module a lot.
I still have v1 and v2. Both of em are excellent synths imo.

Can every sound from Dune be heard in Dune 2
