I stand behind my original statement...they never told us what they were giving us as an update BEFORE version 9 was released. They released a list of what WE wanted, but never what THEY intended to do about it although they said they were going to do something about it.

By "outcome" I meant the outcome of what they had decided to do...

You do understand me right?

AFAIK updating from 8 to 8.5 will not get you C9 for free as C9 will be a full version update, though I would love to hear if this works for you - please report back if you try! However if you are a new user and purchased the full Cubase 8.5 today you will get the upgrade to 9 according to guitar center.
You're wrong. While I had Cubase 7, I bought 7.5 upgrade and waited to activated until the near release of Cubase 8 and I got a free upgrade.

I also bought the upgrade to 8.5 when it was on sale a couple of months ago and will activate it when Cubase 9 will be released to again get an upgrade for free.

Let's be clear here...

Your proof of the above quote is...

The very post that proves this false.

Not only that, but somehow in the bolded section you completely contradict yourself. How can they make a promise if they've never told you what they intended on doing? How can someone not tell you what they intend on doing, but simultaneously promise that they're going to do that very thing?

Anyway, Cubase 9 will be pretty cool. :tu:

I have a plan to upgrade my Artist version (8.5) to the Pro version, but does it matter if I wait till the 9th version release? Or I should upgrade now and wait till version 9 to be released then activate my upgrade?
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I have the same question here. Does anyone know?

Rumor is there will be a docked window thing at the bottom that can house the mixer, piano roll etc., similar to Sonar, S1 etc...

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that it would be the same either way. I mean I think if you upgrade now (for $199?), the you would get the free update. Or if you wait, the update to 9 will be $199 anyways. Thing is, there is no guarantee it'll be released this year and no guarantee that the grace period will be 6 weeks again, though that has been the history of the last 4 releases or so...

Where did you hear this? I ask because it is one of my only interface requests for Cubase, and I know others want it as well. The Cubase interface is awesome in most ways, but needs a few more tweaks, like dockable windows, to be perfect.

As somebody who just jumped back into Cubase with Cubase Pro 8.5 (last owned version 5 or 6, can't remember for sure), I'm pretty excited to see what they do with version 9. Their last 4 or 5 releases have been in early December, so I assumed it would be coming. Now just gotta wait a month to see for sure.
