Thanks for the tip! In fact, I've been toying with that very idea, but I didn't think of doing it with Excel.

Will try it ASAP.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Maybe the best would be if users started a petition for new & scalable GUI for Absynth/FM8/Massive ...

Absynth where you could set global midi learn and not just per patch would be nice, not easy I know but they are clever people, the best people...

Where do I sign up?

The best possible place would be imho the forum inside NI, and under fm8 .
If there would be great number of posts, NI sure noticed it...
They even may comment it like "that won't happen" or "we'll talk about this" .....

You are kidding right ?
NI forums are so over controlled it beggars belief.
Quick example, the Maschine forum is falling apart, nothing but complaints and it got much much worse after the release of Jam, so to ease everybody NI starts a public beta, then only invites people from the forum who never complain about anything from NI.

They are nothing but a joke company now, they have no current staff who actually know how to design software, this is why the only software updates are miniscule tweaks to a framework to keep them working in the latest OSX and Windows, it is such a short sighted strategy allowing all their original designers/programmers to leave and not replace them, at some point the small UIs and severely old technology in their plugins gets found out, when it does they just replace with a Reaktor or Kontakt design.

Anybody who doesn't already own Komplete and buys anything off NI right now is a total idiot, even their hardware is ridiculously over priced, for the rest of us on the komplete bandwagon, we have to just sit back and hope for an update that is worth paying for, the poor uptake of 10 and 11 does not bode well though.

While I don't think that NI has become a joke - it's pretty clear the spirit of NI has changed dramatically since the early days. Today they seem to be focusing on pushing out more sample libraries and Maschine expansions. But I guess that's a natural transformation when you go from a small company to a bigger one. Rather than being bold they have become predicable and a bit boring. I remember the early days of Reaktor - NI was really at the front of making interesting stuff back then.

I love Monark - but I rarely use it because of I have to fiddle with Reaktor first. The same goes for their convolution reverb. That I have to start up Guitar Rig is one step to far. I actually did an interview with Stephan Schmitt ages ago asking about this - but he didn't understand my point. So I guess that spirit still lives on in the modern Native Instruments.

The best way to get the good folks at NI to sit up and take notice,is to vote with your dollars...

Their forums are closely controlled to maintain a positive spin and they like to keep the messages regarding company policies "predominantly positive"...

So the best way to send a message is to not buy their vision of the "future of sound" if it doesn't fit your own requirements...

We can clearly see where their company focus is with regards to their products and some of us just don't buy their commitment to Kontakt and Reaktor....

So don't buy it !

It's a great business model for NI to predominantly focus on two core engines and then just develop or license libraries, but it's all getting a little too predictable and boring now...

If NI don't continue to develop their synth line, there will be many people moving away from the brand and this will have severe consequences for NI's budget bottom line...

Like many people have stated over and over again...

We don't want to have to load Reaktor to use a synth or load Guitar Rig to use an effect...

We want direct access to synths and effects - not some convoluted route..

We want products designed the way we want to use them....

So if NI can't listen to the heartbeat of the common people, then we will just take our vote somewhere else where we feel that it will be heard....

Just like the American people did in the 2016 Presidential election....

So vote with your $$$ people, because that is always a company's bottom line and when that one starts impacting on them, they will start listening and they will be listening good :)

The problem with that is to get what we want it's often cheaper to just buy Ultimate and not use/load/install what we don't. And if we turn off tracking (which I think most of us do), then they have no way of knowing unless they're reading all these threads (which I doubt they waste time doing).

I think it still comes down to each of us what is the best way to deal with them is for our best benefit.

They rarely read their own forum, they have over bearing Moderators that they give free stuff to that heavy hand the forum all the time, they have no need to read threads.
There is no way to send any message to NI, they have lines that sell, those lines either get updated or they have a built in eco system, so Traktor gets updates because every time they try to build an eco system on it it fails, Maschine updates are years apart, but every couple of weeks an expansion will appear because that eco system works.
The funny thing is the Maschine users who think Maschine will still get updates and even exist if people don't buy expansions, no expansions sales, no Maschine ;)

You know, I might be in the minority, and let me be clear, I would like to see an update to FM8 and Absynth. However, I would also be completely ok if they continued to focus on Reaktor and Kontakt. I'd really like it if they merged the products in some way. I would love to build instruments for Kontakt that started with Kontakt groups but allowed the use of Reaktor modules. At the very least I hope that they update the filters in the next Kontakt release.

How do you feel about Reaktor 6?

Of course you're referring to the "Popular" vote that chose Clinton as the president (by a substantial amount). It was the "Electoral" vote (and other nonsense) that allowed Trump to get in as the president-elect.

Anyway...

I recently purchased FM8, and I think it's fine the way it is. I see no need for FM9. NI should put their energy into something else. Update filters (and related emulation) in all products to take advantage of new hardware infrastructure that can handle it now.
