Hi Sickle,

I actually really liked the extended version of the first film, but I didn't like the extended version of the second one. I hope I'll like the extended version of the third one ... crossing fingers...

There's this nasty little habit that's been pioneered by the LOTR's where critical elements of the storyline are taken & saved for a special edition DVD release. I'm not too thrilled with the extended edition of TTT myself, especially as they deviated from the storyline quite a bit, but as far as the third extended goes, I hear it's gonna be the best.

Persoanlly, I was quite pissed at the omission of the Mouth of Sauron bantering Aragorn at the gates of Barad Dur & the confrontation between Gandalf & Saruman after Orthank fell, but these two scenes will be in the final DVD.

That's enough of that, I'm sounding like a f**king geek over here :help:

I love them all and I can't wait for the final extended DVD

nice work (from memory even) 8)

I'm afraid that saruman vs gandalf thing might not happen.I think they kinda moved saruman being stripped of his powers to the part where gandalf releases theodin.

would be nice if they tied up the story between eowyn and farimir though.
and include that damn scene from the trailer
that doesn't show up in the film (yet)

Don't worry, you are not the only LOTR geek. Nothing to be ashamed of. We have our own special LOTR thread going on here :D

It's good to know I am not the only one...

Thanks for listening Opiadream :)

You are definitely not the only one! I have read the books at least twice yearly for over a quarter-century. I have a vast collection of Tolkien related stuff, including an actual first edition of the trilogy from the 1950s. I like the movies a lot, as well (though it was the omission of the Barrow Downs and Scouring the Shire that irritated me...never mind the fact that Frodo was half the age he should have been...I won't go on, for fear of revealing myself to be a little too much like Comic Book Guy on the Simpsons  )

Nicely done, pheeleep. I myself have always meant to do some versions of a few of the songs Tolkien did with Donald Swann for The Road Goes Ever On...

i'm a big fan of Tolkien, too.

LOTR, the films, are quite decent. a real tour de force, considering the depth of the novel...

the soundtrack is excellent in itself, but i'm not a fan of movie-carpets made of strings and horns going on all the time. so, watching the film i thought: too much music !

but it goes with the epic feel of the story.

as for your track, bravo for the memory work 8)

What would really get me off :!: would be if they were to do ANYTHING from the Silmarillion, particularly the early wars with Morgoth & the corrupting of the elves after the theft of the silmarills; great stuff.

Now your talking! hey sickle: did not know you were a LOTR fan TOOO?? :-o

But they gotta do the Hobbit first. Jackson said he'd do it if they can get thru the red tape.

I really enjoyed all the extended versions, but hope they put plenty more in the ROTK extended...so much needs to be said. I do know they are going to show the house of healing and Sam throwing away his pots and pans in Mordor. Also Aragorn with the Palinteer. They DID film the Saraman-Gandalf scene, and maybe Saramans demise with Wormtoung knifing him ( theres a hint of that in one of the photo books..Two towers I beleieve)

the hobbit would be much easier....

i grew up with my mums copies of these books (complete with crappy pencil annotations in the margins) and the hobbit was the first one i read (i was about 6)

it took me 15 years to get past the first 4 pages of the simarillion
(it was actually well worth it) and i imagines it would be a bitch to try and screenwrite/film.

not that i know anything about screenwriting/filming

peter jackson did an excellent job with lotr, couple of niggles and shame about the ending of rotk but still....

awesome cinema experience and a "buy a soon as its out" dvd film

steve.

ps good tune.... especially from memory

The Silmarillion is the TRUE epic in my opinion.

TC: Hell yeah, man. I might be a drinkin, druggin Tattoo Artist, but I got CULTURE, baby!!
