Another great tune from you Mark and a great way to segue into Stars End. This is also another new sound for you, very eastern sounding, Hars guitar playing feels like a perfect fit for this. What synths were you using for this. Can hear the Juno but those pads are very lush, is that the fizmo. Alsao love the squencing in the background nice touch.This should be on your cd when it comes out.

OK no Juno this is still very good. and that Fizmo rythm is pretty cool.

But more than anything I really love Mark's parts...he built the perfect framework for me to play against: the man is an excellent soundscaper. I just listened to this mixed version, and Mark did a fantastic job with the EQ, mix and everything else too.

...I've been offline for much of this week as I've been re-doing my studio here with a new desk.

OK, as to what I did: the parts that sound like a big, breathy orchestral string/synth pad from the "2001" soundtrack or something

...like the swells that first kick in at 00:10, again at 00:29, again at 00:46, again at 2:03, the big evil-sounding swells at 5:44 and 6:03, etc...that's actually just my guitar, no synths or samplers.

Mostly I wanted to give Mark's very cool synth parts a lot of breathing room, so instead of endlessly long sustaining parts, I wanted to instead just pop up here and there with those swelling parts to keep things as subtle and atmospheric as I could.

As to how: this is just my Fender Strat played cleanly, "bowed" using a Morely volume pedal, and occasionally with some two-handed tapping to play parallel parts...this then just went straight into the computer where I processed it beyond recognition using a bunch of detune, delay and reverb effects including mda Detune, Sonitus delays, Lexicon Pantheon reverb, and especially Koen's KTGranulator (from SmartElectronix

), which was responsible for a lot of the more Legeti-ish orchestral textures.
I recorded the parts in one pass with no overdubbing, straight into SONAR (thank god for SONAR's Input Monitoring!!

).

Yes Har, I mistakenly thought the string pad was Mark but found out it was you on guitbox. Great work, fits Marks piece very well. You are now the Guitar God of KVR.

very delicate soundscape, full of crawling life.

the orientalish lead gives a mystical, middle agey, mysterious depth to the whole.

great great stuff that deserves more bumps and listens.

Great sounds, perfect for a go at a Philip K. Dick book... Read Neuromancer with this and it's bread and butter !
