Forgive me, but I don't see any way to automate the "effect"

The other NSP plugins (the overdriver and booster) are very good and have earned their place in my guitar pedal effect folder and I'd love to have a wah-wah effect of the same standards, but for me personally this one isn't there yet.
1. I love funky wah-wah stuff but can can't do it with the auto function now, because it's just too slow for me.
2. If I do push the slider fast up and down manually or automate the slider fast I get nasty sounding artifacts
I hope it can be improved a little in this regard
