And you can also drag the loop into Groove Agent4SE and have it slice & assign slices / loop to pads.Gamma-UT wrote:Maybe I'm missing something about the requirement but Cubase slices - it's available in the sample editor: double-click on the sample/loop in the arrange timeline, select the slicing threshold in the Hitpoints tab and then Create Slices using the button towards the bottom of the window.
Which DAWs offer (automatic) slicing (algorithms) instead of classic time-stretching?

Yes, but I didn't mean the "special" slicing functions. I was looking for slicing/transient preserving (stretch)algorithms used for the plain stretching of audio loops.
Personally I couldn't find any better than the Logic Pro X algorithms. I pick 10 out of 10 against Elastique 2/3 as well as Melodyne 4. Even though Logic's polyphonic stretch algorithm gets "grainy" pretty fast - it sounds more pleasent (coherent) than stretching in other (Elastique based) DAWs (phasing issues and harsh artifacts) - especially the slicing algorithm (I am actually talking about in this thread) is amazingly clean.
