The purpose of The Samplecast Youtube show / podcast is that busy composers who don't have time to spend all day trawling forums, facebook and Youtube for details on the latest libraries can get all that information in one place, once a week. The video show is designed as a quick run-through of all the essential information, the podcast is an extended version of the show with audio demos of almost every library that's been covered in the video show. I get so many messages from composers thanking me for the amount of time / money they've saved by watching the show. The Samplecast seems like a valuable resource for lots of busy people. Of course, if you don't find the format useful then I'm open to feedback. Let me know what I could do differently to help you.

After our short hiatus, we're back with a new episode of The Samplecast. Thanks to everybody who has sent me messages over the last few weeks - your support and enthusiasm for the show has been invaluable. This episode features 18 different sample libraries and plug-ins; a review of Heavyocity's "NOVO : Modern Strings", news, developer updates, bargains and loads of freebies.

I'm a little bit late with this week's show so thank you for your patience. Samplecast #42 features a whole host of libraries and plugins (many of them for free). The main review is UVI's Digital Synsations 2 which recreates the sounds of some classic 1990's digital synths. Playing it was a trip down memory lane for me as I have used lots of those sounds in my early productions.

This week we've also snagged an interview with games composer Tony Manfredonia where he chats about his score for upcoming RPG Call of Saregnar.

What a week!

There was almost no Samplecast this week as I was so busy making videos forKontakt Hub, Auddict and Impact Soundworks that I barely had any time left. However I got up super early yesterday to record an especially sleepy episode of the show. If you've ever wondered how awful I look at 5am, now's your chance to have a good laugh.

Perhaps due to the ungodly hour, I give Zero-G's Ethera Soundcsapes a bit of a rough ride for this week's Big Review. There's also plenty of news and a couple of great value bargains.

Back to normality this week with a typically busy Samplecast show. I thought it was about time that I brought back the "tips and tricks" section of the show as it's been absent for a while. This week learn how to create evolving soundscapes from pretty much any sound source and a bare minimum of effort.

Reuben here. In the UK it's finally starting to warm up, making my studio extremely "cosy". Through all the dripping sweat, I've still managed to put together a packed show this week, including news, reviews, updates, previews and bargains. There are also 4 amazing freebies that I recommend checking out.

I've been in the hospital this week but through all the blood and drama I've managed to put together a packed Samplecast show for your viewing pleasure - albeit a bit late - sorry.

We've managed to twist the arm of composer Sid De La Cruz who has worked with Trevor Morris & Hans Zimmer. He dishes the dirt in his podcast interview. There's also a review of Ivory II Studio Grands - plus all the usual news, updates, bargains and freebies.

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful messages of support following my brief illness last week - you are all GREAT! It's back to work this week with a packed show featuring 12 different libraries and plugins. Is this the longest ever Samplecast show?

This week's main review is Native Instrument's THRILL, and I've also squeezed in some news, updates, bargains and a really nice tip for using your gating plugins creatively.

A couple of weeks ago I came across an awesome Spiderman theme mock-up by Benjamin Squires - which has over 1 million views on YouTube. He takes the 1960's Spiderman theme tune and makes it completely modern, with a full orchestral hybrid version. This week Benjamin has been gracious enough to explain exactly how he put the cue together and I can't thank him enough. I'm his biggest fan now!

I've been sitting on a secret since May and this week I can finally reveal it - phew! Thanks to Toontrack I was invited to a special preview event a few months ago to hear Superior Drummer 3 in action. Since then I've been sworn to secrecy but in this week's show I can finally show you what all the fuss is about. Also this week - a full review of ambient pad designer Chordscape from Divergent Audio Group plus loads more.

Sorry about the lack of a "proper" show last week. I simply didn't have the time to put it together. I hope you enjoyed the newsletter as a replacement. This week it's back to normality with an extra-long show. This has been one of my favourite episodes to put together, with a wide variety of news, bargains, freebies, updates and a focus on a new developer who I just love.
