Thanks for the link. Tried it. Sucks big time. Many bugs, ugly interface, not really useable.THK wrote:Audacity can play loops (shift+click), but i don't know if it can save loop points.Michael Kleps from reFX wrote:Audacity can't loop at all...
The most easy to use loop editor i found is the free TWE from Yamaha:

Seamless Looper?
An idiot on Set Theory:

i see the loop in audition. shown by cue-markers! switch into loop-mode is also no problem. just activate in the transport-section! open the cue-list to see the loop-information. double-click highlights the loop. so with loop activated you hear it fine looping.Michael Kleps from reFX wrote:OK, load in any WAV or AIF file (which has a loop embeded into it) into Audition. Do you see the loop? No? Damn... Do you hear the loop? No? Damn... Can you actually switch Audition into loop mode, so the sample is played from the very start to the loopend and then restarting at loopstart? No? Damn...
what i can't get to work is to play the file from start an then jump into loop-mode. you can play and loop the whole file or just the marked loop.

Forget looping in Audition. It's simply not designed for this kind of work. The Seamless Looper is perfect for that and costs only $40.
Anybody wants my Audition 1.0 (english version)? 50 Euro and it's yours.
Cheers,
Mike

Dandruff, why not call me and give me instructions how to use loops in Audition
After all, I seem to be too stupid, having used and programmed these kind of applications for last 15 years... My telephone number is in the contact area of my website. I live in germany as well and I can call you back, so no money lost...
Cheers,
Mike

i'm also not a 'profi-user'. step by step (to save your money):
1. open a waveform
2. open the cue-list (windows -> cue-list)
3. highlight a part of the wave
4. in the cue-list click "add" -> now you have your loop defined
loop-start is then shown as a red-marker in the waveform-view. the loop-end is a blue marker.
now you can move the markers with your mouse to fit the loop to your needs. maybe the option 'edit->snapping->snap to zero-crossings' helps there.
for fast loop-highlighting just double-click the loop in the cue-list.
and maybe finally watch the loop-setting under 'view->waveform-properties'
so try this out
1. open a waveform
2. open the cue-list (windows -> cue-list)
3. highlight a part of the wave
4. in the cue-list click "add" -> now you have your loop defined
loop-start is then shown as a red-marker in the waveform-view. the loop-end is a blue marker.

That is all too much work. I tried to load AIF files with embeded loop information and it was not there. Then you have to enable to save this stuff each and every time you save etc. This tool is simply not designed to create, edit and save loops. Take a look at the demo of Seamless looper at
http://www.beatcreator.com/
to see what I wanted all along. Audition doesn't cut it. It's for people who want some acid like application. Not for low-level loop editing.
Cheers,
Mike

I don't think you could ever do that with CoolEdit/Audition.Dandruff wrote:what i can't get to work is to play the file from start an then jump into loop-mode. you can play and loop the whole file or just the marked loop.
All the other loop functionality is there, though.
But Seamless Looper is indeed designed for this work! Right tool for the job.

Hey Michael, all contentions aside, does this mean you're working on a new sample based instrument maybe??

Hummm, I got ez-editor a year or so back with fruity. Using it to make sustain loop points is a breeze. So much quickier and easyer than tring to do it manually in sound forge. If you already had fruity, i was going to suggest you could consider it as a cheaper alternatative, but $40 for seemless looper is a good deal.
