Is there a big advantage to mixing in wav instead of midi

rendering to wav is v boring.
it always seems like an unnecessary step vis a vis the time it takes.

I really like the idea that the thing is alive and moving, and so I only render parts begrudgingly, when it is absolutely necessary for whatever utilitarian reason. I guessthere are less-alive parts that I dont mind rendering, but Id still rather not. For sure most of my tracks sound a little different each timet hey are rendered.
Its the only reason I upgrade my computer. Id keep every single thing 'live' up until a final finished wav if it was possible.
That said, the mental aspect of it forcing you to move forward is pretty important.
I still, for no real reason, render a high bitrate wav out of my project file and load that into a new project for a final stereo/eq/loudness chain, just because it 'feels' right.

This is a serious condition that affects countless bedroom pajama-collared producers. How many bangers must we lose to this horrendous disease? If only we could find a cure...Boone777 wrote:fuckarounditis

Drum tracks always need more presence. Maybe this is a way. Can also pitch shift easier for kicks.

Actually this might be interesting to explore. thanks.Once in a while I render the drums to make them tighter with wav editing.

That's one of those things I like about Reaper; the rendering of stems is equally quick as rendering a whole song.kevvvvv wrote:rendering to wav is v boring.

A 6 minutes song with 20 stems is rendered in 3-4 minutes.
