Why don't hosts have a toggle to switch between plugin and host for keyboard and text entry?

Due to user assignable key commands/ macros, etc any standardization attempt is folly. Only real way to deal with it is if the Host hid all windows that didn't have focus. Cubase is moving towards this with it's new window handling. All windows appear as a tab to the parent in the task bar. If at all, any auto-hide is sporadic, there. Still, it's all about focus and how to switch between windows easily. In Cubase you have to hover the taskbar icon until it fans all open windows and choose it. Not ideal, but could be in evolution. With Steinberg, WhoTF knows.

You're right, i agree. I was hesitating with posting that. I've removed it from my post to avoid confusion / complication in this topic. (post was very recent so the edit is ok i think)

And about properly forwarding unused key messages so to properly support the hierarchical logical message flow with the standard UI focus as single master controller.

Yeah, no major point to begin with. One of the main reasons I don't quote all the time, nothing's locked in stone, so to speak. Besides, we both see the main point for what it is.
