Make sure you tell 'em that you'll be needing a 2 month holiday in the tropics to soak up that exotic vacation vibe that they want in they're song! (Well, it's worth a try...) 8)

Ah, you mean a $3 vacation on the banks of the tropical Thames River in downtown London? (Beach umbrellas included! :D )

That was a nice decision, vurt. Not sure whether I'd be doing it the same way...
(Yeah, call me a disillusioned twat - that's what I am. Will save you from the loooong story behind it)

Hi,

I think it was a good decision, Vurt, in my opinion.

Surely, others have a point too. -->

Sometimes this can help to make the audience think,
the bosses are too fixed on there objectives to get
it and can be fooled easy.

You missed a chance to influence people to make
"the right choise".

Well I think that's, at least in Germany, an opinion that anyone at university had over the last 5 years. It's kind of "wear cashmere-clothes, it's subversive"-thinking. (Not that I say Midiworks would put it that way, not at all :D). Many many people over here would have laughed at Vurt's opinion and talked in that Foucault-micropolitics-way which was/is posh here. But to be honest they said (in your case) "take the money and do it and it will change those people" and while saying so they liked to bash many people who had other opinions ("oh, the green grass is important to you", and man that was funny, they thought).
And it came out that NOTHING had changed that way - only too much hate spreading around...
But sure, those people didn't have to ask morals&money-questions, and whereas their "micropolitics" as they put it changed nothing they took those jobs, got the money, and can bash anyone they dislike.
I once recorded about 100 of those bashing-statements from a bavarian radiostation and put it together. Played it to friends outside Bavaria, and my oh my...they thought... (for Germans: copy available :D, was just an experiment, sent it to the station, never got an answer :D).
But apart from those poshy people I can understand what Midiworks says, too.
So maybe music for the over 60 :D? Why shouldn't they like to listen to good music :D?

Do it.
Take the money.
I have contracts too (web) where I think about things, but the thing is you can find a reason for NOT doing any contract if you look hard enough.

Just do it man, if you don't someone else will.
You are being too "nice", I mean it's a green belt which will be built anyway, you not paying off your debts wont stop that.

Do it and donate the money to someone that can use it in the management of land or natural resources that can be saved.

Seems to me the land is lost to development. At least someone like you could draw some small positive from this.

Not doing it may make you feel better but it does nothing to help the issue you are concerned about.

as you say money isnt everything 8)
Hey Vurt..they wann knock down Stonehenge for a f**king highway (if it hasn't already happened).

My point is, if that greenery is on the market, it's gonna get sold to the guys that want your tune or to a pharmecuetical company mass producing the prp Prions for mass consumption.

If that area is gonna get sold it's gonna happen with or without you, as much as that sucks.

You hate Sting, so I'll quote an oldie but a goodie:

"When the world is running down, you make the best of what's still around.."

I'm pretty much used to the "do it or someone else will do it" route. But am I happy with it? No way!
I have been playing jobs for (political) parties I don't like at all, I have been playing for rich idiots (and you can't imagine WHAT sort of idiots they are/were) - all that sort of stuff.
Yes, its what allows me to make my living by being a musician, but as said above: It f**king doesn't make me happy - and there's more than one moment in my life when I was regretting my "let's become a *professional* musician" decision.
So, my bottom line would be: If you can afford to stay away from it, do so!
No, that doesn't mean to avoid such (or similar) things at all costs. Just make sure that you ALLWAYS think about what you're doing there! NEVER say "Ok, I'm a music whore, I'll do anything" - but also don't say "I'm so much of an individualist/hippie/whatever, so I don't do any jobs" (as someone allready stated, there's bad sides to almost any sort of contract earning you money).
Just don't lose your sense of reflection.

As far as my own future plans go, hopefully I'll be able to stay away from such jobs more or less soon.

well thats it ive never even sseen music as a way of making money so i dont feel im losing anything
i am honored i was asked and no i wouldnt say no to anything its just this one is something i disagree with in a rather big way
its not that im a hippy or anything(i eat meat and even hunt on occassion, but i eat what i kill im not into wasteful shit like fox hunting thats just cruel)
anyway i think in my country there is enough concrete and not enough greenery and yes i know it will be done without me but i still have my soul as et pointed out

and believe me its not that i can afford to
i think with my head the way it is its more i cant afford to do this
:ud:

Post

Would you have done it for 5 million quid?

blue

Post

yeah cos then i could have moved to a country with more greenery :P

to be honest i dont know cos i wasnt offered 5 million i was offered just short of 2k so i cant say
no point being theoretical with me mate i dont even do reality most days
:ud:

Ok, no problem, got ya thinking though:)

You could have told them you would do it if you got your own park there:)
