erm - is it playback only, Jorgen or is it recording as well?
Personally I don't need anything else than 16bit for imported samples - higher bit depths I only use for my own recordings...

it's both for recording and playback in sequencer, audio part and sampler...

yep, it would be really nice if eXT supported 32bit floating point format as it's nice and quality wise to edit files in 32bit fp format everywhere and in the end dither it to whatever format you like. Every pro programm I use, uses 32bit fp format to edit and record samples. It would be really nice. On the other hand, there's no too much difference between the two, but to us "purists"

Actually, generally I keep every song and samples I work with in a song in 32bit fp, in order to keep computation errors at minimum and so I don't have to worry about dithering and formats while editing, and in the end, dither to 24bit with no noise shaping for archival. When I make a CD, then I dither it to 16bit with noise shaping. I like to keep things as Clean as possible. If you keep transcribing samples from 24bit to 32bit to 32bit fp to 24 bit... that's just no good, or at least not good enough for me. Cheers.
