I bought mine longer than 5 years ago which means I can't transfer the license, according to Lennar's transfer conditions.
Makes just as little sense.

No, the deal was better last Black Friday (or was it x-mas?) when it was sold at 40% off or something like that.
Agreed. I'm still not too fond of renting something, even to own it. I mean, the idea is not bad, but, mhmh. After 12 months, i paid $120 already, and still lose it, when i don't go on paying? Guess i'm really not used, and don't want to get used to something like that.
You can continue paying any time, you were using this thing all that time, but if you are impulse buyer that could change his mind, than better to wait for sales and lose less second hand, renting it for few months for 10 bucks is good deal, but more than few months if your ultimate goal isn't to own it is not that good investment, especially something like year.

Personally I wish more devs. were doing this, so instead shelling out for one item a month, one could rent to own few items and make music with them all the time before he owns the licences for all of them.

We talked about this in Serum thread, this is good as it get's for someone that is short on cash, but wants ultimately to get hold on the item. :tu:
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

This is a great idea! Glad to see it happening with Sylenth (after Serum).

No excuses for people not to have a legit copy now.

Although, it's no use to me as I already own Sylenth. But it shows good forward thinking by Lennar Digital! And it's still a great synth. :)

Nice. Glad the r2o idea is taking off.

Sylenth has never tempted me before as I think there are many other more interesting synths out there. But I like the idea of rent to own a lot, so might be slightly tempted.

R2O, imo, FARRRRRRR outclasses this subscription BS that's been popping up all over the shop. For that reason alone I'd get on board. Not keen on the "phone home" thing, but you know, it it what it is, and they have to make the tech work some way (will I buy Serum or Sylenth R2O? Likely not, but not because of R2O)

To be honest LD are very fair on this: "The subscription can be paused or suspended any time you like, but that'll also deactivate your license (until the subscription is re-enabled). When you have paid all installments, the subscription stops and you keep the full license!"

For that matter i think you can't do it better then they did with this subscription model. I only wonder if there will be another x % off in future or does they stop sales because of that?
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Ha no. Already ..eh.. own it.

It still outclassed most synths in terms of sound but more importantly the preset library base. I'd almost get it for nothing else than a preset browser for sound ideas I would then reproduce in another synth

Absolutely. It's an extremely buyer friendly deal. For 5 bucks more than a WoW or HBO Now subscription I've got unlimited access to two of the best synths on the market, and they're mine when they're paid off with no interest. It's a no brainer for me. I can't see myself ever subscribing to Roland Cloud.
