2.3 had VST3. Looks like it's purely OS and architecture bit compatibility. No new features but it's still nice they're keeping it current.
Could definitely use some GUI scaling though.

I think it sounds more analog the older it gets. It smells funny too (in a good way).

Playing around 5 minutes with this new version I see they didn't even bother to fix old bugs like, some knobs are hard to move with the mouse or the voice LEDs are not working and probably more...

The only difference I have found is that now I have AT LAST been able to reinstall it on my Windows 10. Something I was waiting for since... January 2016!
That's all.
I have observed absolutely no other difference. Yesterday I have even re-recorded in WAV some tracks I had made long ago in Mulab with the previous version of the synth: absolutely no difference at all in the sounds compared to the WAV files I had made in 2015 while my OS was Windows 8 (it was impossible to reinstall it in Windows 10, reason why I have been waiting for a so long time). Resinstalled at last yesterday, the filters behave the same, the oscillators too, the modulations too... and the bugs too. So it seems that they only worked on the compatibility to the OS at the installation procedure and perhaps in the disk and RAM I/O of the synth itself.
I talk about Bass-Station, the only one I have. And for me it remains the same crap, compared to many other bass synths of the same price. I hope that the owners of the V-Station can enjoy better their synth, but honestly the Bass-Station is not only outdated... it is also so much buggy that it can't even compete with the most simple bass synths made by many other brands for less than $60. Just... a comparison with something like Korg Polysix or Korg Mono/Poly or TAL-Bassline101 or ReDominator for the same level of price and it is the night and the day. And they produce very easily the same sounds as the Bass-Station and the V-Station. Even freeware products like those from Full Bucket Music are way better than these old payware synths. Even TAL-Noisemaker itself is way better than the Bass-Station (and perhaps than the V-Station) and probably produces the same sounds (and the same sound quality) and with much more features.
Conclusion : this new update of their two software synths is not even an evolution nor a single "fixing bugs release". It is just a very very late adaptation to address the compatibility with the OS in extremely late (anyway, too late) reaction to the complaints from the customers for years. In fact it is something like a release made to not be considered as abandonware products.
My opinion about Novation remains the same : when after years and years of bugs reports from many users there is not yet a single addressing of these bugs, that brand shows clearly a pitiful service for their software products and a total disregard for their customers. I definitely classify them as they should now be : abandonware.

Meh, so it's like i expected. Oh well, it's a question too if anyone still reports these bugs to Novation anyway.anoise wrote:Playing around 5 minutes with this new version I see they didn't even bother to fix old bugs like, some knobs are hard to move with the mouse or the voice LEDs are not working and probably more...

Current V-Station and BassStation has serious bug and does not work well under higher sampling rates.
I already reported to the developer and confirmed by them, but still not fixed.
It looks like abandonware for me.

Just wish they'd fix the damn preset nav in vst3. Linear and manual advance on a tiny gui? Gimmie a f*ckin browser already...

That and the filter portamento tracking not working...it's a shame. I sent them an example from Moog when they had released the Voyager with the filter bug that later got fixed. V-station has the same situation I would expect this as well as any remaining bugs to be rather easy to fix. I love V-stations sound but Novation is a bit of a letdown in this case...but hell for the price of V-station I can't really complain (or have I already

It looks like they also fixed an issue that existed when adjusting bipolar knobs with mouse, from what I can tell. It used to be quite chaotic and the only workaround was using mousewheel instead.

Always sounded great but the only thing you can do with it are preset dance arps. I could never even name and save my own presets. Smh. All the novation software is like that. Close to useless.

the internal patch system IS flakey, but using the DAWs FXP, FXB system works fine for meDasheesh wrote:Always sounded great but the only thing you can do with it are preset dance arps. I could never even name and save my own presets. Smh. All the novation software is like that. Close to useless.
