Ah, too bad PayPal isn't available or I may have impulse bought that. But honestly I think it would be best for me to study music theory more deeply.xbitz wrote:ahamm, played with trial of Scaler, can't see DAW transport linking(sync), ofc. it hasn't got any phrase related functionality, can't build any kind of chord structure, chord selector is far more limited so >> http://www.musicdevelopments.com/shop.html $ 79 > 53 Light Edition (42.12 EUR)maybe if it would be a free one ...

Hmm. I agree this is a problem.braj wrote:Ah, too bad PayPal isn't available
I am very careful about using my Credit Card these days after my bank blocked my card one xmas due to me purchasing from a vendor they had an issue with and who they would not name. This left me without a credit card and therefore also without paypal for the entire holiday/sales period. Man was I furious with that bank.

The more I use Scaler the more I love it. Just seems endless and the only software I know that can analyse what you are doing and then suggest actual chord progressions. Many other chord plugs I've tried just seem to say here's a chord and here's all the different variations. Scaler actually gives you entire progressions based on genres and artist sets. I wonder if they will keep updating it with more chord sets, although as it is it feels like siri for making music!!!!

The thing which I like the most with Scaler is the scale detection. Cubase doesn't have something like this, right?
For creating progressions I'm undecided which one I like better. I'm just digging into both products at the moment. I think Cubase may be a bit more a universal approach with the circle of five, while Scaler is based just on a chosen scale and you have to chose your chords from there. I'm not too deep into music theory so correct me if I'm wrong.
Any new experiences in this regard?

I use scaler for music prototyping. Yes the interface is not the best, but if you work with it for one - two hours you will notice that it is very intuitive. For me it is just great to catch ideas on the fly. I have also installed it on my 10" windows EEE PC and it is perfect when you are on the train or in the bus and want to catch a scenery. I hadn´t had any bugs and it is totally stable in Bitwig 1.3. If you are interested, look at my "short" review:

Hi guys. I just wanted to confirm that it is the default behaviour of Studio One to create a new session when importing a midi file. Scaler only uses native midi behaviour of each DAW so its not a bug on our behalf but the way Studio One behaves. There are a few workarounds which we haven’t tested at length but Scaler can export midi files straight to your desktop and there will be a way you can import the notes of that midi file straight into your current session. I’ll report back here when we have done some more extensive testing with Studio One.Psyclapse wrote:Thanks for confirming.don1thedon wrote:Yes confirmed, I was trying the demo out last night and had the same problem (i.e. creates a new song rather than dragging into the current one) ... very frustrating. I did find Scaler quite interesting to work with for exploring & formulating ideas but that issue in S1 is a pain for me.
Someone from the project team contacted me to say they will investigate.

A workaround that I have found efficient is to create a folder for Scaler Midi clips and give that a tab under Files in the S1 Browser.
You can then click and drag the midi progressions from Scaler using its Export Midi button (bottom right) across to that folder in the S1 Browser.
You can then drag it from the Browser into your song placing it wherever you wish.

Not sure I concur with what I think you're trying to say? I can drag midi from anywhere on my PC, from within S1 and from other apps (e.g. EZDrummer) into an open project without a new session being created. Incidentally, if I do try to drag Scaler midi file to the desktop I get an error message that it can't be completed because the file is still open in S1?bonebones wrote: Hi guys. Just drag to the arrangement instead of the track control area to open drop it in the current project.bonebones wrote:Hi guys. I just wanted to confirm that it is the default behaviour of Studio One to create a new session when importing a midi file.

That works for individual chords but not when you drag the progression from the "Export Midi" button.daw.one wrote: Just drag to the arrangement instead of the track control area to open drop it in the current project.
