Side chain could be interesting as well as the new 'modern' and 'bus' algorithms. Metering is nice , but more like a bonus feature.
As my Pro-C2 upgrade currently costs £50, I expect this to be at least that amount, which is a bit much for an upgrade IMO.

Terrible music to showcase this plugin, IMO. And when he goes to the “aggressive mode for more electronic styles” he drops in some non-aggressive, non-electronic style music.e@rs wrote:The inevitable Dan Worall video is out:

Was thinking the same when it came to the agressive mode. What stupid, most non-electronic track was that??!dangayle wrote:Terrible music to showcase this plugin, IMO. What if those algos were better suited for Busses or individual tracks?do_androids_dream wrote:And this idea of having algos for 'aggressive' 'punchy' etc. is just ridiculous. If you really want to effect your master in this way (and 99% of the time you don't) you would do that with processing that comes before the limiter. More marketing rubbish basically.

Relax guys.. they are just names for the algorithms. All of them aim to be as transparent as possible, they just achieve it in different ways and we gave them names to differentiate them from what we felt they "sounded like".
Oh, and there is indeed a "bus" algorithm that is no at all transparent but rather "squishy" which works well for a myriad of mixing tasks. In general limiters are very useful in mixing, not just mastering.
As for keeping up with the competition and the new fantastic era of loudness rules, I'm pretty confident Pro-L 2 stands at the very top of the heap when it comes to quality. Then again it's as always, very subjective.

Music was just fine. Very dynamic which makes lots of sense for a plugin that is meant to focus on dynamics.
And if opinions on music for Fabfilter promo videos matter (which I don't think they do), I've hated all the music except this one, but I still own almost all the FF plugins because I like what they do (and didn't buy them for the music played in the video, nor for the person talking... but on that note, Dan Worrall always does a great job).

What's the point for -23 LUFS (and below) in such limiter? To watch how signal is much below threshold where limiter will actually work? Or now people are limiting even on such low level signals to kill dynamics for fun?

I know what's EBU standard. I just can't see any reason to use limiter on such low levels.
