Handsome-looking page. What I don't like is that to get any more info that what's summarised there, I have to sign up. Anyone seen a manual?
It does host 64-bit Kontakt had some problems with some plugins but most work well. Also, the interface can be confusing at start, Manual is there in software but not very detailed.
If you want a free DAW as your primary DAW or just to host some plugins, i'd recommend Tracktion 6. This is a little new but looks promising.

Actually, it seems to support VST3 as well. FM8, Kontakt 5 and EZ Drummer all seem to work fine. I didn't check multiple outputs. For something I'd never heard of, it looks okay. I didn't see a guide, and the tutorials weren't too swift.

So far, my computer hasn't shown any ill effect from signing up... And I checked for stray processes and the like.

There don't seem to be markers or time signatures. I don't see any tempo changes either. I could be missing them. But if I am, they are well hidden.

Post

I don't know about the tempo change but time signature is right here.

There's a master time signature. I meant variable/multiple time signatures. Not important for everyone, but for some it is. I do find the program interesting and pretty solid so far.

Tempo Automation will be available in the next maintenance release.

Time Signature automation is already integrated.

Just draw and automation block in the top track on the Master Channel and double-click it to change the time signature and sequencer for the region.

Ah! Clever. And nice to hear from a developer here. That happens once in a blue moon. Most have been scared off by rabid, nonsensical abuse... ;-) Very cool.

BTW, I love the way you toggle the plug-in pane by double-click. There's some extraordinarily nice stuff in the interface. I really, really like the approach.

One thing, I haven't spotted any real in-depth help. It's pretty intuitive, but if there isn't any (and I'm not just missing it), perhaps add the corresponding key commands to the tool tips (mouse-over info) for now. I've discovered most of them, but...

i have tried installing this a number of times. it won't install properly. it scans VST plugins and crashesd because of that ( i assume), that's to be expected, but after it DOES crash it goes through this scanning process the next time. so it's unusable for me.
i've not been able to install it and run it even one time.

@SoundBridge, back on December 22nd I sent an e-mail to support. Here's what I wrote:

"I've been using Soundbridge since the 9th of December and there's a lot of things I like about it, however, I've noticed that unlike other D.A.W.s Soundbridge has to scan all the plugins at every start up. I have a lot of plugins and that means wasted time waiting for the program to start. Of course I could use other D.A.W.s but I like the look and feel of Soundbridge. Maybe in the next update you could find a way to cache the plugins or something along those lines? That's really the only main issue I have with Soundbridge for now. It would be great if you could find a way to speed up the reading of the plugins in the next update."

I should also add that the C.P.U. usage is a little on the high side at times and if you could get that lowered that would be appreciated. I think you have a very good D.A.W. here but those two issues are the ones that are preventing me from switching over to Soundbridge full time. Looking forward to the next update. :)

The scan is quick enough on my system that I barely notice it. Don't know why unless it's me using NVMe SSDs.

Post

Yep, SSDs help a lot. :) I'm using Soundbridge on Windows 7 with a 2 TB 7200 R.P.M. hard drive. The thing is, other D.A.W.s like Logic, Cubase, Tracktion, Reaper, etc. don't need to scan all your plug-ins every time you start them up and I'm hoping that the Soundbridge devs will sort this out along with cutting down on the C.P.U. usage.

Post

It seems pretty new, I'm sure both issues will be fixed eventually. They may not be threaded. I'll have to check.

Hi,

SoundBridge adds all plugins to cache memory after the initial opening for the majority of users.

A small number of people have claimed that it's not caching properly, but it's been really hard to diagnose as we are unable to replicate the bug on our side.

Could you please contact us again at support@soundbridge.io so we can learn more about your system?

Best,
SoundBridge
