Hey there
Just thought I would present my views on headphones
And being an owner of a sr 850 in my experience these headphones are a bit misleading for being a studio reference
A studio headphone should be flat but these are a bit bright or I should say the high frequency are a bit over the bass and mid
Other wise the rest frequency is flats as a board
Edit :what I feel when I make my bassstep music some may say bass is overwhelming but I think only the high are a bit high

i am totally lost when hear words 'STUDIO' and 'PRO' these days...not sure that there is flat headphones at all - SR850 are nice for everyday, agree not very flat, but when combine with SR950 or other man can do relatively decent mix

aside from the fact that THESE DAYS many people have been punched cause the way they talk,i prefer not to use calibration at all :)It's better to listen mix through different headphones and speakers...it's not my point,it's 'pro' and 'studio' gurus who said that

Well, go on, buy as many pairs of cans as you desire, your problem really, I can trust one pair with Morphit more than many different ones without it.

The best bang for your buck currently is the Monoprice Monolith series:
https://www.monoprice.com/pages/monolith
The use the same technology as the Hifiman or the 1000$+ Audeze but at a much, much cheaper price. They come very highly rated. Search for reviews.
If you need to go cheaper, you absolutely want to use either Morphit or Sonarworks. I used to be a big Sonarworks fan, but their reference plugin kept my CPU constantly busy to the point where I got concerned about overheating the system (I'm producing on a MacBook). The Morphit solution is not as perfect, but good enough and both much cheaper and easier on the CPU.

Maybe not 10 but if find 2-3 of 'right' for your production models - why don't start new topic about how useful this calibrating soft is,i am over use everything related to soft and prefer more hardware. There is cool guy who in youtube try any kind of headphones ,he has countless of them : Z ReviewsZexila wrote:Well, go on, buy as many pairs of cans as you desire, your problem really, I can trust one pair with Morphit more than many different ones without it.

Both good options. You can't really go wrong with either one. The Sennheiser seem to be on sale at the moment and they do have a Morphit profile which might actually make them more attractive right now. Both are open back, so be aware the people around you will be able to hear what you are doing.VELLTONE MUSIC wrote:Monolith M1060 vs Sennheiser hd600 ?

Thanks for idea - Monolith M1060 sounds very impressive and the specs r interesting 2 :
Planar Drivers: Not your typical headphone driver! A planar magnetic driver is a flat membrane that is surrounded by magnets. When current is delivered, the membrane produces sound that has lower distortion, better bass, and pinpoint imaging that is usually not found in your typical headphone driver. The size of the driver in the Monolith M1060 is 106mm.

I'd advise caution buying inaccurate headphones and expecting them to be fixed with Morphit.
Even if we assume they can fix the frequency response of a set of headphones, it would still depend on the QC of the manufacturers to make cans that have a consistent frequency response. Or else it wouldn't line up with the correction. Hopefully it can fix some of the problem, and that the frequencies being compensated for aren't actually making the accuracy even worse.

Please show me "accurate" ones?UltraPortamento wrote:I'd advise caution buying inaccurate headphones and expecting them to be fixed with Morphit.
Also what's the alternative for people that must make compromise and can't buy HD600 or more expensive cans, what do you actually advise about buying?
It doesn't make it any worse than it is and it wouldn't on long run even if that happened, you have control over how much correction you apply also, so it's moot point.Even if we assume they can fix the frequency response of a set of headphones, it would still depend on the QC of the manufacturers to make cans that have a consistent frequency response.
