Ahh Tori rocks, Favorite cd by her is to venus and back. I like her progression in musical styles over the years climaxing to that release. After that I havent really listened much. She has put on some stellar shows especially when plugged in. Im really hoping she collabs with massive attack on thier next venture. although its kinda a dreamy thought but they did use liz and sinead.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH sickle what a poopy thing for you to say and shes still hot (insert smiley face with hearts as eyes here)

the song in which she sings an inversion of a eminem song - pretending she is the woman being held in a truck by a ravin mad man ! excelent song - i truly love tori amos - that whole cover album she did is fab. i mean who would imagine her doing slayers Reign in blood

as some of you guys know i am a big fan of kate bush
there incomparable to me - kate bush is more witchy and expressing it - tori on the other hand is more introvert and glossy and more aproachable to a wide audiance

and as cheesy and comercial it may be
i love corn flake girl

I think I'd prefer to hear them rip one of her songs to shreds instead!

Actually, I have no feelings either for or against said bint, it's just the thought of the tories makes me ill.

I've had a listen to a few of the recommended songs - downloaded from the net initially as I've no intention of buying an album if I'm not going to like it.

Winter and Butterfly didn't really do much for me I have to say. And I had another listen to Cornflake Girl (which I remember from years ago and which was what made me think she's trying to rip off Kate Bush in the first place). Sorry but I don't know why its not obvious to anyone but to me it still sounds like someone trying to sound like Kate Bush - the whole song could have been done by Kate Bush.

Vurt - I understand people comparing all sorts of people - Bjork and Kate Bush, Suzanne Vega and Joni Mitchell - but these people have their own very distinctive sound and are not trying to sound like someone else - influence is one thing - plagiarism is something else.

So I'm still not sure about Tori Amos - I'll listen to some more when I can get hold of it but sadly it seems so far that Ruby through the looking glass is all she's done that impresses me in any way.

How about these songs:

Wednesday
Strange
Crazy
Sweet Sangria
Pancake
I Can't See New York
Tombigbee
Bug a Martini
God
Past the Mission
The Waitress

Thanks - I'll try and dl them and give them a try :)

As a major Kate Bush fan from back in the seventies when she started out I've felt the few tracks I've heard of her's were far too derivative - not in the way of someone who is influenced by another fine musician - but rather, to me it seemed someone was trying to cash in on her style, and I dislike that sort of exploitation - particularly when it takes advantage of the fact that Kate's music was less well known in the states when Tori Amos started out making it easier for her to maintain the idea it was her own work.
it's like he read my mind

granted some of the songs are good, but the style aping always made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up
