However, I also want to learn new things and new styles / techniques and not just submit music in my comfort zone (weird abstract electronica) every month, so that's where attempting some other sound design comes in for me :D
Indeed I am with you on that. Many a time I have made some great sounds with the "synth of the month" and not used them <sigh>. Getting out of a "comfort zone" is always a good thing as it forces you to learn. :tu: I suppose I have always loved lush harmonies, either in standard genres, or in ambient/chillout genres. EDM has not been my thing to make, although some of it I love - honestly! I did the "abstact electronica" way back in the 60's, s omight go there again one day.

Hello everybody! Thanks for choosing Crust for OSC, and thanks for your kind feedback ;)
I've uploaded a new build that hopefully has the dll issue fixed. I can't catch the bug even on my old Win7 machine, so try it out and let me know in the Crust topic please: https://yadi.sk/d/LRtlPwas3VFQMr

edit: NB: don't forget to clear plugin cache / black list if your host has one.

update: the new 0.7.5 version has this hotfix and a couple of filter envelope improvements (no new functionality) https://yadi.sk/d/hSoDCosq3U3QNF

This was on the Crust developer thread.

Good luck!

Yep, as to the manual - the most detailed manual is the video. Also there're timecodes in the description on Youtube.
Good manual is a lot of work, and there's no reason in doing it for the pre-alpha software where the functionality and the UI may change.

looks like an interesting synth but I kept getting "this plugin failed to load" errors on FL Studio 12, both 64 and 32 bit versions...

FL 12.5.1 64bit with 64bit Crust works fine here on W7.

However it is kind of weird synth. Even it have more features and controls then JuceOPL for me it is more limited overall. Yes it can produce interesting sounds that JuceOPL can't but it is also not that universal. UI is really bad. I'm not talking about visuals but size of controls. There is a lot of free space here but developer choose to make tiny controls and switches and some of them are without labels. Yea I know I can use ? switch to see some description but it is hard to work this way. Detuning using multiplier is also not usual and it works different on those 2 OSC. Even after few hours playing with it I'm still don't know right way to use it and why it is different and not same on both osc's.

Get aliasng problem even without FM settings and filter off, sync off on high note. OSC sounds dirty. Also there is some weird stuff on polyphone. Tunning preset for single note not work becuse it sounds "bad" with chord. Some kind of resonation. If I tweak preset to sound better for chord it sound "bad" for single note. Also oscilators always affect each other no matter what settings I use. Formant filter is nice btw.

This will be hard round and I'm sure some users not join this round since there is no single preset here. I already have some sounds ready but they still need refinement. Some of sound seems to be quite hard to make. End of rant. :D

I love chalenge BTW so no problem here. :tu: It will be similar fight for me like it was with noisetar.

I'm glad that you at least liked the formant filter! ;) It shines when used with low-freq saw and wide frequency sweeps. One can create powerful bright burps, enigmatic kitchen sink noises and other pleasing sounds.

Please take my words as suggestion and not a rant. For sound designer good UI (again not talking about shiny graphical stuff but more about organization in order to understand synth flow) is a must. Just use this empty space to increase size of controls and add labels everywhere.

Formant filter is really good sounding here. :tu: Looks like my entry will build around some ambient chanting/voice here.

No problem ;) This is a pre-alpha, many things will change.

And please more contrast, I have good eyes and usually can see even small GUIs but here I am lost, should be very easy. I don't mind black and white, but grey in grey is way too hard... (I am on Sierra if that matters)

I created my own skin (just the background) of Crust... I can't really do much with the small size of the labels, controls, and numbers but for me at least it helps to visually organize some elements together.

Replace the 'bg.png' in the resource folder (I can get to this on mac pretty easily. Not sure how this works on PS).

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Look nice but in windows resources are packed inside dll.

Looks really pleasing to the eyes. I just wish there is a way to incorporate it into my system (windows 10 user here). :?

Thanks, jasinski. You have made life of developer easy. It looks appealing.

For Windows users about this GUI usage: Got this from Charlatan thread about where its new blue gui was shared.

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 5#p6875119

http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

It may be somewhat tricky to use this tool, though. It is good tool, but, I would not prefer using it since we have active developer with us.

Best option would the developer himself compiles dll using this GUI bg from jasinski and share with us. I think it will be matter of few minutes for him.

Regards,
Dee.
