Sorry but i have to ask:
Did you buy BeOS too?????????? :hihi:
I sure did. I was full-in on that platform. Aside from music needs, I was using BeOS as a primary OS for a while. The market and Be's choices (going public) were poor, and it all ended up a complete loss.

It was a great OS at the time. Still does a few things better than anything else, to this day, IMO.

It is. I was a BeNews reporter at the first WalterCon where the new name and visual design for OpenBeOS was announced.

Sadly, the leadership of that project is not the same as it was, and, IMO, the current direction is not aligned with the ideologies that made BeOS what it was. It's got a lot of the usual open source and Linux trappings going on now.

I've run a few Haiku alphas and the system responsiveness isn't remotely like BeOS. Most software and development going on is from ports of Linux components and projects. It's still lacking a lot of basic functionality, which is why it deserves the label of Alpha.

More than I've spent on DAWs ... hardware is another story.

Post

More than $2000, but I'm too lazy to know exactly how much! I have bought and sold DAWs/Accounts many times in the market place! So, it is tricky to know the real expenses!
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Bitwig 5, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

€179 for Logic Pro X, €29,99 for MainStage if that counts.
For all my iOS apps DAW´s it was about €150 maybe.
Now the only one i would pay for would be a major Logic update and i guess i will buy NanoStudio 2 for iOS for sure.
I don´t need more in my life about DAW´s :D

Post

Under 500 quid, for three Logic updates :tu:

That's covered about eleven years, so far. And who knows how much longer X will keep giving? :tu:

FISH.
I have spent FISH on DAWs / upgrades, and so has my phat wife.

PS: I realize that this is a rather irrelevant answer to the poll but we must stay true, dear comrades, to the notion of fish on KVR polls, or where will the slippery slope end??????? :x :x :scared:

PPS: about £300.

I've been messing with computer music for over 20 years, so probably over 2000.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Well, in this case you have spent some money, right? :)
Mac Mini M4 Pro | 14 Cores (10P/4E) | 48GB RAM | Studio One | Reason | Bitwig Studio | Logic Pro | FL Studio | Cubase Pro | Waveform | Reaper | Renoise | ~1000 VSTs/AUs | ~350 REs

Well, I don't do music for money and I don't really even try, but I know I've made enough to cover what I've spent on Cubase since 2003. I voted the 500-999 dollar range, it may be just over a grand. My recall off the top of my head of the numbers was inexact to say the least.
