1987 G&L L2000 fretless. Natural Ash finish and heavy as hell, but it sounds like a dream.
Also my Lightwave Saber maple neck fretless, probably the best sounding bass I've ever heard.

I have the 64 re-issue american strat, made in Japan in about 1982. Still my favourite by far. I had a few other electrics through the years I got rid of. Tried the gibsons. Love the sound but it is unplayable for me.Sonicseven wrote:I have a Fender American Strat that has been seasoning fo 20 years now that I like alot, and a Fender reissue 62 Tele that is a real nice player. But my two favorite guitars are the ones I made myself. They are modeled after the Strat and the Tele but are wholly different beasts. I will try to post some pics of these beauties when I can.
What is your favorite guitar(s)?
Favourite accoustic is the Takamine. Love it for the sound and playability. Never owned one. I now have 3 accoustics, of which the Yamaha APX is my favourite. 2 accoustics I had also ended up in the dustbin, one being a epiphone (another gibson make) that just did not stand the test of time.

I used to work in a guitar shop, and i was always amazed by the quality of the Alvarez guitars. It was crazy cuz we'd have some old 300 quid Alvarez that better the shit out of some brand spanking 1000+ quid Martin.Mighty_Hero wrote:I really enjoy playing my alvarez.
As for my favorite guitar, hmmm! I think i might need some time to ponder over that one. I came close to buying a Quenca once which was among my favorite classicals. Acoustic wise, i think Taylors are pretty much it - i tried this electro one, with the cut away and it was probably the best iv played. Electric are tricky to, I have a 62 reissue Strat which is very nice but i dont think its the best iv ever played. I also have a Les Paul standard, and my feelings are similar. It rocks in a big way, but to say its the best iv played would be going a bit far. If i had to name one i'd probably go with a custom Woodworm that a mate had done for him. It was a strat type body, with maple neck, two single coils and a bucker. It was f**king awesome!
Oh man, i can feel the lust kicking in!

I'm a bit of a weird dog, as I've got three Peavey guitars. Two of them - the Horizon II and the Falcon - are US made from the 1980s, and play beautifully. The Horizon I use for more Strat and Tele sounds, the Falcon I dropped a set of three Seymour Duncan pickups in and acts more as my blues/hi gain sound.
My new favorite, though, is the Predator Plus I bought back in April for $149 CDN. It's Korean (I suspect the Samick plant made it) and has the nicest fast neck and low action I've ever had! It also came stock with Schaller locking tuners. I've since modified it with a Duncan JB and two GFS single coil sized humbuckers, and some Graph-Tech saddles, and the thing now really takes off!

My favourite guitar is a sort of mailorder bride.
It's a Kramer Striker 422 wich I ordered from MusicYo.com. Ordering a guitar from internet is a bit strange (not to say weird) but at these prices (i needed a guitar like this) it seemed a interesting experiment. It payed off. Far better then I expected. It needed some fine tuning but after that I got myself a realy great guitar.
Before the Kramer my favourite was my Gibson The SG. A budget SG issued in 1970's. I refurnished it with Seymore Duncan and DiMarzio pickups.
My other favourite is the Yamaha APX7 electric/accoustic.

It's gotta be the Black&Decker AxeMate...
Sorry.... I love my Takamine Electro Acoustic, it's not one of their topnotch models but it's supremely playable and sounds gorgeous in the kitchen where songs occur to me most often.
I also have a 'cheapish' Epiphone ES copy which looks nice and visitors want to touch but the Takamine rules my roost.

I hope the guitar I'm building turns out good enough to be my favourite; however, for now it's gotta be my Godin LG. It's heavy, it's semi-ugly (though I love the looks now that I'm used to it), but it's built like a tank and has classic P-90 tone for days.
Still, for sentimental reasons I'll never part with my Guild D-25 acoustic that I bought in 1992. It was my first real guitar, my first and only "collectible" (not quite as much so as Martin or Gibson, but will still appreciate rather than depreciate) guitar, and more importantly is the guitar I did my "real" learning on. It has a rich boomy sound that comes partly from its carved (rather than braced) back. No shimmery acoustic, this-- it's for thumping.

That's got to sound amazing, Warmoth parts are great. Does the hollow body add anything to the tone?iDavid wrote:I have a Warmoth Strat. It is hollow with Kinman pick-ups.

A Lincoln SG
Thru neck with two maple insets in a oiled walnut body. It had a skunk neck, no block inlays or dots, just a plain 'flat' fretboard. 2 humbucker type pickups, no trem. Supposedly hand built, not sure about that but it was a truly stunning guitar with the best action I've ever seen. The only weak points were the D'marzio pickups, they were a bit weak imo, and the oiled body, it marked easily. I'd never seen/heard of this make before and I've never seen one since. It breaks my heart when I remember I sold it years ago
the guy that has it now regularly turns down silly money offers for it.
I wanted a Shergold Masquerader (?) at the time, I loved the trebly sound, but went back for the Lincoln SG, wish I'd had the sense to keep it.
After that, it has got to be my Cort M-600, truly amazing vfm
A hell of a lot of guitar for the price.
