I appreciate the offer, but serial number tattoos are just a little too cryptic for me.sickle666 wrote:uh, as a gesture of kindness to all my fellow KvR members, I'll tattoo serial #'s for $5 a pop.
I'll even use a new needle for each of you
Any embarrassing "Lost My Serial Number" stories?

dunno about serial numbers, but I always fancied getting a barcode tattoed on me...The fun bit would be getting it to be the barcode for a 4 pack of Stella and then getting scanned in the supermarket.Tempest wrote:I appreciate the offer, but serial number tattoos are just a little too cryptic for me.sickle666 wrote:uh, as a gesture of kindness to all my fellow KvR members, I'll tattoo serial #'s for $5 a pop.

sure..all you need is a scanner. The code itself is teh same across the board. I used to know how to write in it at one point.CypherOne wrote:Is it actually possible to tattoo a working barcode....sickle666 wrote:that's freaky dude..

There's the time I discovered that one serial number had got torn so that two of the digits couldn't be read. Took me ages to figure them out.
Or there's the time I typed "Lost Cubase SX serial key" into google. It didn't take me to Steinberg's site as I had expected. It did, however, solve the problem.

well what I meant was more 'can you accurately tattoo a variety of thin and thick black lines' and would it actually work?'sickle666 wrote:sure..all you need is a scanner. I just think it would be unusual and would be a good laugh everytime I bought beer from the supermarket.

yeah man, I get stuck doing one about every 3 months..the last one I did was on a soldier who just wanted a bar code & didn't care what it came off of..CypherOne wrote:well what I meant was more 'can you accurately tattoo a variety of thin and thick black lines' and would it actually work?'sickle666 wrote:sure..all you need is a scanner. I used my wife's tampon box's bar code.
Doing bar codes is a SERIOUS pain in the ass, & getting it the actual size is completely out of the question. Cellular mitosis will blow the thing out in 7 years or less if that isn't taken into consideration & teh tattoo enlarged accordingly.
edit: having the bar code actually work is a major test of a tattooer's skill; if the lines aren't spaced exactlt right, then no, it won't scan. And as I said, mitosis will render it un-scanable within about 6 months.

I lost my atmosphere manual quite a couple of times...found it every time though...
OrangeVocoder serial was behind the piano, M-Tron box is now used as a stash for money and Reaktor box was under my bed.
