None AFAIK. And on a related subject, do resellers do updates?jackson881 wrote:Is there any advantage to pre-ordering Komplete 12? What is the incentive?

Yes. Resellers do sell the updates, but I've yet to see one that offers any type of discount yet. They usually say coupon codes aren't allowed.noiseboyuk wrote:None AFAIK. If anyone finds a shop selling Komplete 12 updates for less than the price on the Native Instruments website, please correct me. I'd love to be wrong!

I'm trapped with k11 Ultimate so. I barely see anything that justifies the K11U --> K12U price.
Kontakt 6 is fine, and I'd like to get it. Massive X might be cool, but it's yet to demonstrate. Other K12U new features left me rather cold. I would have liked NI to put a possibility to go from K11U to Komplete 12 normal, but this doesn't seem to exist. Will sadly possibly pass until K13 or K12U discount periods.

I did find Guitar Center selling the K12 Ultimate Collector's Edition upgrade from Ult 8-12 for $100 above the list price at NI. What a bargain, $699 plus taxes on top of that. They have a unique sales strategy.jackson881 wrote:Yes. Resellers do sell the updates, but I've yet to see one that offers any type of discount yet. Ok. Thanks. I see that option now. The upgrade dropdown didn't show up for me earlier. I had bought Kontakt through the Drumica for 125 last year with the intent on getting Ultimate eventually on a sale crossgrade.Chapelle wrote:It is still possible to upgrade from Kontakt (click on "Buy Now" and select "Upgrade").festeringheap wrote:I'm pretty sure you that one could have crossgrade/upgraded from standalone Kontakt 1-5 to a Komplete 11 version at a discount.
It looks like Native Instruments took away the Kontakt crossgrade/upgrade path away for Komplete 12.

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing much value in K12. Maybe I'll wait until 13.

No advantage to preorder. I was early adopter each year from KU8, 9, 10 and 11, and every year I would pay $400 and next thing I know- they would bundle discount with hardware or do some other offer that not available to early adopters, and I would be like WTF, really? Contacting tech support, and they would be like, "sorry, you out of luck".

There needs to be a better upgrade pricing. Since 11 they've only added one new synth and one kontakt library. $600 value? I dont think so.

I'm still on version 9 because they do little to enhance the synths they already have instead of shoveling more samplepacks at me. But complaining about it on kvr isn't going to change the situation... because shoveling samplepacks at everyone is making them loads of money (otherwise they wouldn't do it). So why would they change that?
I think they, like IKM, have learned that the lucrative side of selling software to music folk is in selling software specifically to novices and enthusiasts. Which is why their packages seem so gimmicky and consumer oriented. If you can sell Maschine and Komplete to some 20 something who thinks they're going to instantly write a platinum selling rap album all of a sudden, then you have something. When there are thousands of people with the same mentality, you really have something.
It is no different than the photography world. Lots of products are aimed at getting novices into upgrading gear continually instead of them taking what they have and really learning to make it work.
That said, I'd still like to see less samples and more software in Komplete... I don't even install the majority of the package onto my hard drive. Bloatware.

Kontakt 6 - nice sound generation update.
Still no GUI improvement...doh..maybe i am wrong and it's not listed but it's extremely depressing on 4k screen. Somehow i am sure they are working on it..

9 - 11 was worth it for reaktor 6!VitaminD wrote:I'm still on version 9 because they do little to enhance the synths they already have instead of shoveling more samplepacks at me. well for me anyway.
we'd all like to see "more new stuff" but we've reached a point where it's hard to come up with anything totally new. what they could do is not update komplete every year, seems pointless if you're not adding much to a package
but, i do not and have never run a business, so wtf do i know?

Yes if you use Reaktor then the upgrade was fine I suppose.vurt wrote:9 - 11 was worth it for reaktor 6!VitaminD wrote:I'm still on version 9 because they do little to enhance the synths they already have instead of shoveling more samplepacks at me. But I don't use Reaktor, Kontakt, or the sample libs. I just use the standalone synths and some of the effects. I also understand that I'm probably not the typical user of their catalog.. so my posts are pretty low on their consideration.
Native Instruments changed somewhere along the way and I did not. The company no longer became Native Instruments and became Sampled Instruments, while I'm still looking at them as Native Instruments. So the issue is largely mine. They give occasional hints that they're still in this with me, but in reality they've moved on.
Yet I think it would be neat if they came back to supporting their Native Instruments though.. scale-able GUIs, audio engine updates, new oscillators, filters, and effects. Oh, and Pro54 (which I'm fully aware is never happening).

i see where you're coming from
they are at least working on some fx while not a huge part of the package or worth it for you to upgrade now, but it shows they're still coding. all it takes is for one person to have an idea and we may see a new synth for 13 maybe?
companies go where the money is, the advent of affordable storage space means everyone now wants multisampled pianos with 127 velocity variations for each key and such...
once that is all achieved and becomes harder to provide new things in that area, then we may see a swing back.
or we may find other companies providing the tools we want

Can the Komplete content be easily spread among multiple hard drives?
Will Native Access allow you to keep your old libraries in place and just put the new K12 content onto a different drive?
If I upgrade, the new content won't all fit on my current sample drive.
