Did they at least fix the freaking method of adding additional outputs for multi-output instruments? When I first saw how crap this was when adding outputs for NI's own Studio Drummer and Abbey Road series I was amazed. From what I recall, channels are named strangely and you have to restart to save the new outputs. Meanwhile, in Battery 4 if I'm using Reaper the DAW creates the channels automatically and I can just choose the outputs in Battery. Kontakt needs to fix some basics. Of course the same low resolution GUI is crap as well. I understand it is a big job, but they've had years since the last addition. Something this complex needs to at least be more visible on a good monitor.

Regarding output names, this is I believe a limitation of VST2, you cannot rename outputs after the plugin has been instantiated, you can only change them upon next instantiation of the plugin. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
In Battery you cannot even rename the outputs IIRC, so...

Err, same thing happens with Kontakt, too? Just define a bunch of stereo outputs, give them generic names like Battery has, and you will have the exact same thing going on when you drop Kontakt into project. Save the output config as default and you're set.Straight2Vinyl wrote: Wed Dec 19, 2018 7:31 pmMeanwhile, in Battery 4 if I'm using Reaper the DAW creates the channels automatically and I can just choose the outputs in Battery.

The behavior of outputs configuration is the same. I don't use the surround outs so that being placed where it is was always a bit annoying.
But I would strongly recommend settling on a default you're always going to use, like a template large enough to be a default and if you don't need all of it simply don't use the channels you don't need, save the configuration and be done, period. Then just take the outs you use in your host. My use varies from project to project so I name the channels in VE Pro if I'm outputting more than one.
I would like NI to create a VST3 version for a couple of reasons which should be pretty obvious.

It doesn't look like there is any new Kontakt Factory Library. I have it in Native Access as installed, no update listed.Doc Brown wrote: Wed Dec 19, 2018 12:58 pm Did NI update the legacy symphonic sounds at all or are they the dusty same ones as before?
I have very little of it installed but it's where NA sees it, no action required.

Currently the kontakt update is at half price, but i'm still hesitating. Stay with kontakt5.

Same here, I see nothing worth upgrading for.dune_rave wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2019 8:43 am Currently the kontakt update is at half price, but i'm still hesitating. Stay with kontakt5.
The same clunky gui.
Apparently Kontakt 5 allows a cheap upgrade to Komplete 12 - but then I feel overwhelmed looking at all that stuff on offer.

There's already content which requires 6, so at $49.50 it's a kind of a no-brainer
While there is no apparent KFL change, Ethereal Earth sounds fantastic, the wavetable engine is added value.

I just got 6 as part of an update to K12U, I would not have bothered otherwise.
Kontakt 6 doesn't look or feel any different to 5, none of the things that really need updating (like the GU or library management/arranging!) have changed, but you get a few nice packs, wavetables and the possibility of a free update to 6.5 and beyond....

The included three Play Series instruments are worth the update price alone...

as a normal user can you create your own stuff with the wavetable module? Or is it something that only developers can mess with?

having watched the video and seeing it can't create it's own wavetables I suspect I'll stick to using Serum or Halion 6 for wavetables seeing as they can create and play wavetables.
Not sure in terms of wavetable playing that Kontakt gives anything more.(But maybe I'm missing something?)
Still looking forward to getting Kontakt 6 as part of the Komplete bundle.

Kontakt6 comes with three new "kontakt play series" libraries, right? How come I cannot find them? I followed the procedure ("install all" + refresh button in Native Acces), as by NI instructions (I'm on Komplete 12), but still nothing. Anyone?
