Don't know about the choirs... bluedad and you seem to like them. They fit well with the lyrics.
The piano is the Malmsjö... It sounds very good. The high notes are beautifull.
don't forget wopelka and lunch money liked the choirs too.
I like this new version.

garret, thanks a lot for the explaination... :D
The 603s cannot be found alone in france. Too bad.
I tried the lazy way (of course !).
Here is what i got (no effect, sorry for the bad playing  ):
http://xhosxe.free.fr/zic/guitare_C1.mp3
http://xhosxe.free.fr/zic/guitare_SM58.mp3 (sm58 without the wind/breath protection).
The preamp is a VTB1 : 40% tube.
Do you get something like this when you don't apply any effect ? :-o
If you find EQ setting that make the C1 usable, i would be very interested.
Heya Xavier... The mic'd sound you're getting with the C1 sounds much better to me than the DI sound.

I had a little time tonight, so I recorded your test track on my acoustic with my two mics. Apologies for the sloppy playing... I'm a bit tired and it's really hot in the music room tonight so I had to work quickly. :-o

Marshall 603s small capsule condenser
Marshall 1006 large cap

To my ears, they both sound good... I like the clarity of the 603 a bit more... it naturally rolls off the boomy body tones because the small diaphragm just doesn't capture the low end.

The more I think about it, the more I believe you're just hearing the difference between our guitars. Mine's a big old dreadnought (Martin copy from the 1970s). Is your guitar an electro acoustic? I'm guessing so from the way it sounds and the fact that you have a di option...

I tried to play around with eq to make your track sound like my 603 track, and the closest I could get had two 1.5 octave scoops: a -6db curve at 1k, and another -6db at 8kHz. That seems to get rid of some of the nasal tone. Oh, and maybe a narrow boost of 4db at 130Hz to get some body tone.

So I think I just saved you the purchase of a small capsule mic... and got you an excuse to buy another guitar. :-o :o Apologize to your family for me.

Cheers,

That farty drum sound still doesn't do it for me. I'm not exactly sure what it is, or what you'd call it... it still sounds like some sort of digital clipping (though I know for sure it's not) fuzz, which is almost never the good kind.

I like the rest of the drums. To be honest with you, I have a shit memory for old versions in order to compare them to new versions, but I DID like this except for that ONE sound. :D

I've just uploaded a v2 with less disturbing drums.
Other little differences such as little more high end on the guitare.

A good song with good lyrics.

The verse melody reminds me of the french group "Mickey 3D" song called "Respire". As some people do, I love the piano sound but not the mellotronish choir.

I wish I could write such good songs...

Thanks you guys for listening and replying... :D

I didn't have Mickey3D in mind when writting this song but i agree there are many things that sound like "respire"... The chord progression and the way i talk instead of really singing...
Wopelka lyrics are far better than Mickey3D ones... (Seriously i don't like Mickey3d lyrics)

Bluedad, Wopelka and Philippe are the same guy...

garret thank you very much for all these informations...
Your 603s sample is the guitare sound i want !!! (And i want to play like you too...)
(I would be OK with the 1006 too.... )

I don't understand the noise in the high frequency i get with the C1.
I find my guitare sounds better with the SM58 mic..

It's a "vintage" (the Manufacturer) electro-acoustic.
It's a slim guitare, that may be the reason why there so much high end. I also play with my finger... don't use a pick... Can be an other reason... I don't know....

I already purchased 2 guitares this year (an electric and a nice nylon). I thought my steel acoustic was OK... :?
Now i want a new one.
Concerning my family if can sell this guitare, i'll be allowed to buy an other one... More than 3 guitares in the bedroom would be a cause of divorce...

Oh i forgot something...
It's a engagement (fiancé ?) present... Cannot sell it....

I think the bad sound comes also from me...
I used ultra light strings (0.010/0.047) which does not help to get a warm sound... I've just changed them to light (.012/.053)...Sounds better.

I've also just tried with a pick.
I feel like i cannot play but the sound i get is better...
I thing i have to work.

Philippe, your august entry is great... :D

Sounds promising. 8) I played around this morning with finger strumming, and noticed that I was getting a similar tone to yours... kind of thin and choked off, like what you get when you strum a guitar directly on the bridge.

Picking near the soundhole seems to get the fullest, warmest tone...

I use ..6mm orange dunlap tortex picks. They have a nice non-glossy finish so they don't slip away so easily. If they have these in france too, check em out.
