Anyone using their synth to patch Omnisphere? Your verdict?

Yes, sub37 to control every other omni HW emulation than the sub37.
Simply amazing the way it adapts to the most used controls.
There is nothing to dislike about it.

Yeah I think it's awesome. I recently got Roland system 1m and it works great with Omni. You're not limited to the hardware profile of your synth, it will control the main parameters of all the patches.
I know it sounds like a strange idea but in practice it's really made omni come alive for me in a way it didn’t before

I have a Minilogue and I tried it a few times and then forgot all about it. Maybe that was because I can't see my computer screen from where my Minilogue is positioned
I question why I should use Omni patches sounding like Minilogue when I already have a Minilogue but nevertheless, I like the other patches included in the 2.5 update.

This is what many people can't get their head around.
Don't use it with the minilogue sounds (well you can because omni does way more) use it with all the other hardware sounds or in fact change the dir to ALL and use any other sound in omni.

Works fabulous with the Bass Station II, and Studiologic Sledge II, also.Gyu wrote: Fri Dec 28, 2018 11:55 am Yeah I think it's awesome. I recently got Roland system 1m and it works great with Omni. I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

Eh, doesn’t seem that useful to me. If i have a piece of hardware set up i will use it to make noise and use one of my keyboard controllers for omni. Only reason i would go that route is if i was an advanced keyboardist, then i might plug my Korg Kronos in because the keybed is so nice.

What the videos fail to show - and it maybe because of time constraints; and the need to keep the WOW factor front and center - is that you could easily take the sounds coming out of omni and *mix* them with with the synth being used as a controller! Yeah: it's almost like the mandate was to *better* the sound then was coming out of the hardware; which in my humble opinion would be the wrong direction for Eric & co. to go.CrystalWizard wrote: Fri Dec 28, 2018 10:46 pm Eh, doesn’t seem that useful to me. Years ago: I did some fairly extensive blending of analog & digital: a memorymoog with a Yamaha TX802; a 4-voice oberheim with a sample of the same as a couple of examples. What I got was most definitely greater then the sum of the parts at times - the sound qualities would take on another, unknown dimension. Yes, at times it was subtle - probably not really hear-able if you're listening to a 256bps mp3 stream. But it was there, when done in real-time.
A mono instrument like a Voyager wouldn't necessarily benefit too much with a digital layer of the same on top of it's own sound - but it still might be worth experimenting with to see what's possible.

Yes, i have done that with the Korg, softsynths, two volume pedals. I still prefered them separate.goldenanalog wrote: Fri Dec 28, 2018 11:46 pmWhat the videos fail to show - and it maybe because of time constraints; and the need to keep the WOW factor front and center - is that you could easily take the sounds coming out of omni and *mix* them with with the synth being used as a controller!CrystalWizard wrote: Fri Dec 28, 2018 10:46 pm Eh, doesn’t seem that useful to me. The sound/blend became something truly different at times when mixing different technologies: memorymoog + TX802 = Analog CEM + Digital DX7II FM; Oberheim FVS-1 + EPS-16m samples = Analog SEM + old-school Ensoniq digital -CrystalWizard wrote: Fri Dec 28, 2018 11:59 pm Yes, i have done that with the Korg, softsynths, two volume pedals. Yeah, that's what I figured out too. All the new patches sound great and they can all be altered thanks to the hw integration on ANY of the supported synths. I may do something wrong but I don't seem to be able to use the Minilogue integration on any of the older patches (samplebased and not samplebased). I'll have to rely on mapping them myself and for that, Minilogue isn't my first choice. Keybed is worthless and can't be played on at all imo.topaz wrote: Fri Dec 28, 2018 1:52 pm This is what many people can't get their head around.
