Yeah, video is a completely different set of skills. I had been using iMovie and was looking at Premier and FCP when I became aware or DaVinci Resolve. Even the free version gives me room to learn and grow.

DaVinci Resolve looks interesting. I have been using iMovie but also Motion for cool effects. Can you do good effects within Resolve?

I don't have any experience with Motion so I can't make a comparison but DaVinci Resolve does have some cool effects, most of the ones I want to use require the full version but it has a neat node based interface for the effects and parameters can be automated. This results in some neat visuals with the Mirror effect. A lot of the basic effects are a bit cheesy, IMO but I may not be getting the most from them due to my inexperience.

That is never a bad decision! I was still getting familiar with iMovie before I switched to DaVinci Resolve, so the switch wasn't that difficult. I still have a lot to learn!

If you have Motion, there won't be a lot of reason to look elsewhere. Resolve has a mixer, but whatever. It _will_ render the video with 24-bit PCM. 32-bit fp file will crash it (me uploading by mistake, there is no 32-bit option). Side point, the new MBP renders video literally unbelievably fast.

I've never tried to put Motion output into iMovie. I have FCP so no actual use for iMovie here.

I am enjoying this, love the panning and the atmosphere. enjoyed the video as well. I starting playing around with Di Vinici Resolve (the free one) I like it

Works fine if you render motion into video... I do it all the time.

Great sounds on here. A very funky workout, and the video had an enthralling and unnerving effect without a visible human director of chaos to act as a focal point.

That was kinda the inspiration for the name. I had considered qwerty or asdfgh, but I had a lot of fun trying to pronounce tyuiop phonetically. I decided that tye-oo-ee-op sounded like an accurate description of this piece.
