waht happens if we don't pay $19 - is there any chance to update again, or will be the update only be more expensive like $49 or do we have to pay the full price.

If they want to force us to pay - we should all together do nothing, if no existing user jumps over, than it's a very good start for both companies and all existing user say f**k YOU PA - first give us a update which is $19 + VAT worth

I am getting soundsets for this money, which are bether than THORN

Well my thought is that some of these legacy companies are just having a hard time coming up with new products like how many different compressors and EQs can PA put out? They have absolutely nothing like Thorn and Tantra, nor honestly does anybody else outside of SugarBytes.

And all those things you listed is exactly what Tracktion is offering in they're Presents program, and they've even went as far as to compare it to a record label for indepenant coders which I actually think is a great idea. You got alot of talented coders who can make a million great plugins but have zero idea how to make a GUI for it like AirWindows, and then other crazy creative coders who may know how to code in only one language like Delta Audio/

Either way Dmitri is a ridiculously talented developer and hopefully this works out for him. Interesting that other companies are trying to gobble up the independant coders. I wonder how say what Plugin Alliance was offering differs from what Tracktion is doing with they're Tracktion Presents.
I doubt that companies are trying to gobble up developers, more that the hassle of running websites, storefronts, customer lists and QA is more than what some developers want to do and there just happen to be more options to get away from that than there used to be.

Razzia wrote: Fri Feb 08, 2019 6:12 pm If I don't pay the PA their "protection money" by March 5, I have to pay full price again for Thorn. Fuuuuuuck that.

That's a real nice synth you got there. Would be a real shame if something were to... happen to it.
This is the thing that's making me hold out. There's no way I'm rewarding that kind of sharp practice.

However, I think the discount might prove to be more permanent than it looks now - unless Dirk has finally taken leave of his senses.
I mean, it's a PA discount code. Do you really doubt they would do something like that?

I think people should be writing to DS and Plugin Alliance about that. I already have. I can live with paying $20, but I won't be exploited with cheap FOMO tactics. they need to be aware that people won't be supporting this kind of crap.

If they can't force us to pay, they will make a new offer, if no existing user would pay this shit to say f**k YOU PA
It's full price. If you're a Thorn owner, check the email they sent you. Your coupon expires March 5

When Unfiltered Audio joined PA, they had 2 products. There was no transfer fee or anything. They just made us an account and said you’ll be getting here from now on.

Honestly, this fee has got to be PA’s idea, and like most of their ideas of late, it’s a bad one.

Anyway, I never bought any of the DS products, so I don’t care. Although, I have pretty much given up on PA, as obviously someone over there has gone mental. :hyper:

First I saw u-he broke their we-don't-like-sale legacy that had been stressed many times by the company, and did that crazy sale with NI, and now this... :dog:

The software market is surely rotten to the core right now.

I just see this as the customer having to pay to support the ongoing development of the pluginand paying for the developers right of passager to board Plugin ALliance. I personally think this is more of DS engaging customers to pay his ticket for survival, he goes under, users go under.

Customers. Money. Doesn't seems to mean anything anymore - it's more about how can they squeeze more money out of us than anything else. There are fewer and fewer vituous software companies out there now. :dog:

We customers expect more and more unreasonable low prices. Every rose has its thorn.

I can’t help but wonder if this fee really is a reflection of the low price sales model, and/or a more short term ROI.

I think for someone like Dimitry it’s a good thing, like UA guys, allowing him to focus on product development and not website and marketing issues. Although it probably does mean having these high RRP prices but offset with heavy discounting. Looking at PA’s history with UA that seems the likely case, but it also has allowed for innovative product development, where you feel that PA doesnt pressure or constrain the developer. But admittedly if I was a thorn owner I wouldn’t feel great about this, particularly if I wasn’t a PA user either.
