back atcha.
The SF thread has made it to double digits in this area without any forum police busting it up. At least I apologized.
Greg
I missed your apology - that's what you get for editing your post
still it was in the wrong forum
('sorry, officer I know I drove too fast - but I aldready realized it about 2,7 kilometres after I started to drive at this speed'
I missed the SF thread due to real-life allocation of leisure-time
(otherwise the thread-starter would have been arrested two days ago - but now he's fugitive

There's an Elric movie currently in the planning stages - but at this point nothing is concrete. There's more info. on it here with some comments from Mr. Moorcock himself.Lunch Money wrote: For me, I'd like to see Elric of Melnibone turned into a movie. It would be successful either as a slightly divergent fanboy pisser-offer action film, or as a true-to-the-book exploration of an interesting character.
I myself am very interested to see if they could get it to the screen with as little Hollywood "intervention" as possible.

Why don't you simply not bother to see movies if you dislike them so much?austere wrote:the less sci-fi / fantasy books they convert to the silver screen the better... Okay, I’m guessing it's already clear but I must stress the fact that I do not like Hollywood films at all.
I don't even know what that means. Like you, I have only seen the trailers and like you, it looks like it would be very very disappointing. And I don't even dislike Will Smith. I think he's fine for certain roles. I just can't figure out why they use the title "I, Robot" when the only seeming connection between the movie and the book is the title, and the fact that they both have something to do with robots.austere wrote:If only because they bombarded Will Smith as the main character.
As for dealing with the actual topic, the Wizard of Earthsea is being made into a movie. I really enjoyed the books, but it looks like the movie will be... not quite so good. The people who make casting and story decisions really need to be smacked about. A lot. What in the living f**k do they think they're doing? I'd like to meet some of those people just to see how obvious it is they're totally disconnected from any kind of reality. And then to smack them around. A lot.

Simple:
His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman
Dancers At The End Of Time by Michael Moorcock (I'd like to them turn THAT into a film
)

I would like to see something like The Simarillion but I think that would be hard to do as a movie. Jackson did such a great job with LOTR if anyone could do the Simarillion, it would be him.

The Silmarillion is a disjointed bit of pseudo history with no particular sense of drama, or at least not one that would translate into a film.
You could take out one or two STORIES from within it and make a movie, but overall-- hell, who could even wade THROUGH that ponderous text without forcing himself to because he's a bit of a fan (ie. like me).
Wizard of Earthsea would be great.
Thanks for the Elric Link.

There's at least 5 complete films in there..I'd like to see one revolving around the destruction of the lamps & the theft of the Silamrils..where Morgoth is allied with Ungoliant..Lunch Money wrote:

Anything involving Morgoth, actually
