izotope's free imager isn't multiband.

Your initial post makes it quite clear that your interest in O8adv isn't that big.
I'd suggest you simply skip it.
Personally, i like it a lot.
Favorite modules are: Maximiser (followed by Dithering) in III or IV mode, Multiband exciter (mostly on buses of orchestral groups), multiband imager (with lowest band collapsed to mono), Dynamic EQ and the multiband dynamics (i also have FF MBPro, which i use for different tasks).
Spectral Shaper can be great when set up properly, and Vintage Limiter is great on single instruments or tracks.
Finally, the tape emulation is quite basic, but sometimes works really good.(mostly i don't use a tape emulation and if i do, it's 98% u-He Satin, in the remaining cases it's Ozone's tape...)
(The EQ is good too, but you should have covered that one by Q3...)
