Probably spent no more than 2 hours on Reddit, and most of that in the last week - searching for gaming headphone recommendations.

Yes, I was justifying that it makes sense it would have been a joke, and I probably misunderstood because without tone and no "/s" things get open to interpretation.

So once you realised it was a joke, instead of apologising for laying into me about my supposed generational-ism, you still try to make the case that the fault was mine that you misunderstood my tone (My supposed Reddit addiction, of course ). I don't think there are any that are "must use" are there? That seems a bit prescriptive/emphatic to me. It will more depend on what you are looking for, and what you need. The only one I use daily is the NJAD dither (as a part of StudioTan), but there are some great other ones too. Chris has them all listed under helpful sub-headings on the left of his website, just scroll down and try a few that take your fancy.

Actually, it was the bit about Reddit which I misunderstood. I misread "Hanging around reddit too long." as a question (That's why I replied that I have hardly even visited Reddit), and that shifted the whole balance of your post to what I thought was you inferring/finding fault from my side. Re-reading the post, I see I was mistaken. So, sorry

My most-used is bitshiftgain; boring but useful.

Starchild and Hombre are interesting delay-based tone shapers.

Bitglitter is a cool take on bitcrushing.

Lots of others are good but face more direct competition; compressors, saturators, chorus...

For analogue flavour I'd say ToTape5, Desk4 and BussColors4 are what you want. I can't be arsed with the way the Console plugins work, and the Channels are so subtle as to be barely noticeable if at all, so I stick with the simpler and more obviously noticeable plugins.

Channel isn't barely noticable, try channel6 at 50% drive or more and level match it, it's audible and does something nice. Works well over a whole mix in different sports.

Purestdrive is much less audible than that if we ate talking plugins that aren't obvious.

If i were to reccomend just one for analogue-ish flavour it would be channel6, one of his best plugins in my opinion.
