Rhodes would be another famous brand, not necessarily for synths, but the Chroma Polaris will be my next guess in case no one names it before me.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2019 3:34 pm Not a guess, but it's a famous synth manufacturer with a name whose letter begins on or after L. The ones that come to my mind are: Oberheim, Yamaha, Roland, and Waldorf. Am I missing something obvious? We also know there's been no emulation of it but probably sample packs.

Because it was too ridiculous of a guess to include. Besides, it's not that.

ridiculous? why?
it's certainly less ridiculous than the A6 oder Behringer stuff.
also I thought all the synths mentioned on the list are not the synth in question?
(But I wasnt aware it had to bee Moog, Oberheim etc.)

If I have to explain why that synth, which would be near impossible to emulate in any meaningful manner, is ridiculous then I'm wasting my time.VA wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2019 8:29 pm ridiculous? why?

The clues given:
All companies between A and L are eliminated.
A major company
That pretty much rules out everybody except the ones I've listed.

Analog synths makers that I have in mind (from M to Z):
- Maplin (not really famous, but they made awesome synths, especially the 4600 and the 5600)
- Moog
- Multivox (not really famous either, but they made awesome synths in their MX series)
- Oberheim
- Octave Plateau
- PPG (until 1976, after that year they made only digital synths)
- Rhodes (not maker themselves, one of their two awesome synths was made by ARP and the other by Fender)
- Roland
- RSF (but I think it's totally covered with the Kobol emulation)
- SCi
- SiEL (they made great analog synths that I loved, notably the Orchestra, the DK600 and the awesome DK80)
- Solton (they made a wonderful analog string-synth very late, in 1985, an astounding instrument which was at the same time string-synth, drum-synth, and even "electronic pipe organ" ! A friend of mine had this incredible string-synth)
- Steiner Parker (very known by the professional musicians, much less by the amateurs)
- Synton (their only excellent product was the Syrinx, and it was really good for its three awesome filters, its two envelopes, its two LFOs and its two quite special oscillators ! A real tiger under a very humble hood ! It's really one of the synths I would greatly love to see be emulated ! Their other product at this time was not really a synth (it was a vocoder) and was not very good, rather to forget compared to the other vocoders of that time)
- Teisco (one of my favorites, formerly independent company then bought by Kawai, under the name Teisco they made some wonderful analog synths)
- Wersi (much more known for their awesome organs but they made also excellent analog synths)
- Yamaha
