I have to ask, why would you go to GC which is the same company? GC/MF is the worst music retailers IMHO. BTW my half brother is one of those who return a lot of things until he gets what he likes...which is something that pisses me off about him, but I hope never to see him again. But MF told him he could no longer return items that were not defective. AMS is better IMHO. But in MF's defense my half brother got thrown out of Radio Shack when we were kids for returning everythingugo wrote:
i've ordered from musicians friend 3 times, and each time something went wrong. the first time they tried to pass off a used item as new (new 4 tracks dont have filthy heads). the second time they tried to charge my credit card for a full $1500 after i had purchased it on their payment plan. the third time i actually caught them in a shipping scam. no shit. after that, i swore never to buy from them again. that was years ago, but since then i've seen friends run into trouble with them too.

Hi Guys,
I can never demo hardware stuff here in the south of Ireland so I really have to ask the right questions... so contact with sales/support is JUST as important to me as price.
I always found Dolphin Music to be really helpful in that respect and good on throwing in leads etc...
Best price/service/help I found for recently buying my Roland VS2000CD was by far Absolute Music Solutioins. Ask for Chris - great guy.
I did find great prices at Keyboard Shop while looking for the VS but great prices are no good if the next stock is expected in 4 months...
Hope this helps!
Dave

i dig on sweetwater. good people there. i shop at my local GC most of the time because i have a former bandmate that works there and he always swings me the good prices. however, if it weren't for the fact that it's local and i have a friend working there, i would never shop at GC. absolutely hate that place. everyone that works there is a total waste of humanity, they never hire anyone for pro audio that knows anything. that or the people are so full of themselves you just want to punch them in the throat just for being there. i really hate that place with a passion. in fact, the only time i ever get quality service at that damn place is if i walk in, find someone (friends included) and say "HEY!!! I'M GOING TO SPEND A BUNCH OF MONEY!!!! WANT TO HELP ME OUT!?!?!?!?! MOOOONNNNNEEEEYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!".
sweetwater are pretty good people though, and i tend to order from them if it's something i don't need immediately or can't get a deal on anyway (like software/plugins). still... absolutely loathe guitar center employees. (no offense if anyone here works at GC, i'm sure you don't suck like the people i'm referencing)

you FL sometimes has a contest and the prize is usually a gift certificate from Audiomidi. They say free shipping in the us, but I would think that if FL uses it as a prize they must ship worldwide. It's worth an email to them imo.moldofunker wrote:You know any U.S. online store that ships in europe ? I'm looking for an edirol pcr-50.

I've had some issues with Musicians Friend, and I don't shop there any more - shipping problems (wrong item, getting a blem instead of new, etc.).
I've had excellent luck with AudioMidi, Music123, and American Musical Supply. Only ordered from Sweetwater once (back when I owned a Mac) and they were good as well.

Currently, I stick to MTLC http://www.mtlc.net because of the way I was treated. I got to deal with one of two people (Al or Arnie), and both are excellent folk to deal with. It's the personalization that I prefer. If an order was delayed, I'd get a call.
I do miss Sound Chaser though, they were a great company to deal with as well.
Musician's Fiend I've never had any issues with. If I did payment options, it worked, end of story. Sometimes they have the best price, and tack on free shipping and no tax, it's hard to argue.
AudioMIDI I've dealt with a few times too. Good folk, but I've heard nightmare stories ordering off their website. Says it's in stock, then it's not in stock blah blah blah. Order from them over the phone, and have them CHECK THEIR STOCK, esp if you need it quick.
American Musician Supply has also bene pleasant to deal with, no issues there either after the one time I had a problem. I had called up asking for a fairly large price quote in the 10k+ range... guess who never called me back? Very odd. I went with Sweetwater instead.
Sweetwater I thought was great 5 years ago. Then there prices started to be higher than the competition. I asked if they'd price match, they said no. So I took my business elsewhere. Their tech support is fine, but I can usually figure out most problems on my own. I sometimes had problems getting a call back though, and finally went up the chain to the VP. My salesguy wasn't too happy, but oh well.
GC has been ok too, but they just recently opened here, and haven't dealt with them that much.
Mars was cool before they went bye bye I guess. Better selection than most brick n mortar stores do, but this was Houston, TX we're talking about too.
B&H, the sales guy I was talking to was quite rude, so no never bothered to call back.
Full Compass wasn't too bad with the few orders I've placed with them.
ZZounds ticked me off with one order. Said my credit card was DENIED, but it was only because I didn't put my last 4 digits of the extended 9 digit zip code! They have something in there of 'complain to the CEO'. Guess who never contacted me, after a few complaints? Guess who's never placed an order with them again?
Overall, mostly good experiences though across the board. These were the ones I can remember off the top of my head over the last 10 years. I know I'm forgetting a bunch more, or they're simply not around anymore.

Ive had terrible experiences with audio-midi (3 times now). Sweetwater has been very rude, even in light of large purchases...
Jrrshop.com is tops...
I get most off ebay...
Music123 has always been great too if jrrshop.com doesnt have it.

would you be willing to share what they were? Or would you prefer not to? I'm just curious bcause I have had good luck with them, but it could be just that, luck..Robert Randolph wrote:Ive had terrible experiences with audio-midi (3 times now).
