I agree with your SX prediction - sudden though it seems!

I've read that Cakewalk are making a formal announcement of Sonar 4 on their US website on 1st September. (i.e. tomorrow!) Again, though, you can expect to wait a couple of months for the product to follow through...

So it looks rather like Cubase 3 and Sonar 4 are going head to head, with announcements possibly in the same week!

My predictions for the two:

Cubase 3 will have something like "groove clips" and better bundled effects/synths, possibly a sampler too (HALion 3 LE).

Sonar 4 will have improved workflow, old and newer bits will be better intergrated, and the automation will be easier to use.

In fact, it might be hard to tell the two apart!

Now I'll just wait to be proved wrong! :-o

Oh great... if this is true, then I just bought SX2 for nothing.

Last time I spoke with one of the support section at Steinberg they said "nothing will happen this year. Oh well... seems like Steinberg has done it again. Or... (that's my suggestion) they do it like the old VST versions... Windows user didn't see some specific verions at all (like VST4 for example).

But then again... SX2 is just one year old, the 2.2 update 2-3 months. Already V3? What else do they want to implement that's already implemented?

I have a bad feeling that Steinberg needs money badly. And I surely don't like the way they treat their customers. SX2 is more than enough.

*sigh... I still remember VST5 being a yearlong stronghold of Steinberg... guess that times are over*

I allready said so: TONS of new features but no fixes! Just the usual steinberg police since ages.

I'm sure instead of firing their UI programmers (who deserve to be fired for creating such a mess) they just allowed them to add even more jelly-beanish buttons all over the fuckin' place - as if SX wouldn't look toyish enough allready.

I can only hope for Sonar 4.
Great that I just bought 15 copies of SX for the local uni's media lab...
