Dithering is just adding noise to a signal before down sampling. Originally this was just broadband noise, then somebody realised that you could get marginally improved measured performance by shaping the noise. The different flavours of shaping spawned a minor industry.
The differences between dithering algos are measurable only at or close to the lsb or around -96dB. Remember this when some marketing twonk tries to persuade you that it's "night and day".

the uk prices are notoriously higher than what the us pays, its a big issue @ the cakewalk forums. my guess is it will be in the $149-179 USD range
