True, I list them under "not optimal" because even though they use an authorization manager software, they can be used offline. Some authorization managers allow offline use, others not. I want to reflect this difference here. If you start your own thread, then you can determine your own rules, but as long as you put your feet under my table...mike_the_ranger wrote: Thu Jun 11, 2020 1:32 pm Your description also says no "authorization managers" still you list them![]()

I think I'll continue writing into any thread I want

Thanks, corrected!khanyz wrote: Thu Jun 11, 2020 1:35 pm Cytomic is listed as C/R on KVR. I think they originally weren’t, then switched to it (years ago).

True about Cytomic, my mistake, sorry.
I forgot you have to authorise the plugins through their website, and once you get the authorisation files, they're for that computer only since you have to provide the machine ID to get the authorisation files. Not completely friendly indeed. When you change the computer... you have to authorise it again, so what happens if they go out of business, or you simply have no internet connection available at the moment? That's bad. I like to buy plugins, meaning once I register them I will be able to use them until I die. Just like hardware. Imagine you buy a hardware compressor and after 5 years they come to take it away from you? That's renting, not buying/selling.
Something unpredictable can always happen. Andrew could die in an accident or something, and the small business goes down. That's why that business model is simply no good. Especially when it comes to small companies like Cytomic.
Otherwise, I have a really high opinion about Andrew's plugins. They are irreplaceable for me.

Ableton uses C/R, you can have an offline activation but it's still locked to your hardware, unlike a simple serial or a key file (like the "good guys" do - TAL, Toneboosters, Valhalla etc

From Black Rooster Audio FAQ:
Use our new License Manager to retrieve your personal serial number. When prompted for activation by our plugins enter your email address and the serial from the license manager and hit "Unlock Plug-in". You are free to choose between your HDD or any USB flash drive as the destination device for your licenses.
Using a USB flash drive allows you to take your licenses with you for mobile or offline use. Just plug it in on any system that runs our plugins and it will activate the products you own licenses for just like any other dongle.

Sure, if you do the research and provide me with this information, I will be happy to add it to the list or even create a public spreadsheet.MogwaiBoy wrote: Thu Jun 11, 2020 10:21 pm Can we also get a list of companies that allow more than one simultaneous computer activation, and how many activations they do allow, that'd be really handy k thnx bai
