Wow, Sophia is such a hot gal - i instantly felt in love with her. AB-VSTi will be off duty for a while now :)

This is by far one of the most outstanding instruments i've seen for a while. Reminds me a little bit of Rachmiels Reaktor creations. Wicked! A must have.

Making Everything Sound Better With Video

Post

Well, doesn´t work on my old puter...well time for an upgrade!

I'm almost of that opinion. The GUI is stylish but I'd prefer to be able to actually read it... normally I don't like big GUIs, but if things are going to be blurry and distressed and low-contrast it needs to be larger.

But this is more of a beautifully nasty noise synth, and for that reason alone I can excuse the GUI. It's hard to tell what any given control is going to do, and chances are I'll just be randomizing stuff anyway.

The CPU hit is hard to swallow... I'd love to have 4 of these things running :D

I'm usually for clean and understandable GUI's as well but i think i would have never used AB-VSTi as much as i did if it had a rather standard interface. Consider this some kind of concept art fit into a VST instrument. You've gotta love or leave it ;)

well the first preset sounded interesting but my CPU died at that point so I deleted this one...

CPU XP3000+ 512RAM, 1 note = 25% :-o

yes, but open Rhino and layer sounds till you get the same bombastic industry sound. You will have about 15-20%.

Krim, you can make basses with Sophia.
Induljon a banzáj!

Well, OK, implementing art into a VSTi might be a nice thing, but this one is almost impossible to control at all - at least it hurts on the eyes big time.
Fortunately in Logic you can switch to "control" view, which makes things a bit easier.
But then, CPU useage simply kicks it out of anything being useful.
Gonna sample the most interestings bits it seems.

Hm, seems Sophia doesn't want to be controlled at all.
But then, why not - got some strange sounds out of it, especially along with TransVerb.
Thinking about the best way to sample them.

Alas, Sophia seems to be totally incompatible with the Cakewalk VST adapter. It gets picked up by the plugin scan OK, but when I try to load it in Sonar, I get a fatal error/incompatible-with-adapter monologue box, followed by a hard crash of Sonar.

Post

Loading it crashes Acid Pro 4...

Post

For the few brief instants before it crashed, this thing sounded absolutely stunning.

Tried it out in Aodix and Psycle - slightly more stable in the latter, but still crashed in the end

If this could be made a little more stable, it'd be all over a film soundtrack I'm doing this winter. I was looking forward to running it through crusherX for extra brain damage... as it is, CPU hit is severe and only runs for a few minutes.

But again - AMAZING sound.
