I love how clean & accurate the Glue is. Enables you to use the color processor(s) of choice (in front of it and/or after it) which can get you lots of flavors with more control. Try it with Omega TWK or the transformer models in IK Saturator X...

Prefer Waves from the two, but use IKM Bus Compressor exclusively.

I very much like the IK Bus comp, too. I also have another SSL model in TrackComp2, also good, but the TRacks is just a little bit faster to setup for me, so it usually wins.transmisser wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2020 11:58 pm I used the Waves G Bus Comp on everything, but switched over to the T-Racks Bus Compressor. I still really like the waves, but the T-Racks one has a Side Chain Hi Pass filter which I feel is kind of essential for my purposes. I didn't expect much from the T-Racks variant, but it's become my favorite. I got it for free since I did that IK group buy promotion last year.
I really don’t care much about which is “better” or “closer to the original” (which I’ve never experienced anyway), for me it is about which one gives a result that I like the easiest way possible. It’s the workflow, baby!

^ if you hold the alt key down while dragging the attack/release slider in Trackcomp, it snaps to the values found on the hw, so it should be just as fast to set up

I'm wondering why only the minority of the waves comps have the ability to be sidechained within the studio rack? Why CLA's and PuigChild dont have this? It's just unbelievable.Pingafuego wrote: Thu Jul 30, 2020 12:15 amWith the free Waves studio rack plugin you can create a Hi Pass filter, or even a multi band Waves G Bus Compressor. Have you tried it?transmisser wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2020 11:58 pm I used the Waves G Bus Comp on everything, but switched over to the T-Racks Bus Compressor. (No affiliation with IK Multimedia. I recently posted about their bus comp in another thread.)

The Glue and SSL Bus Comp 2 for me. Both sound great on everything, and behave nicely in the sense that they solidify things without drawing attention to themselves. Very hard to make The Glue sound 'bad', unlike a lot of compressors.

They are both different enough and cheap enough that having both is worthwhile. I use the waves one on submixes all the time and usually only use the glue on the full mix or on stems if I have to deliver them. The glue is far better for heavier compression in my experience so I like to slap it on "big" club tracks and such. Waves is very nice for tightening up layered synth groups and percussion sections.
That's just kinda how I go about my stuff. If you can only get one I'd rather have glue myself, but waves has its crazy sales so that's a way to go if price is a major factor.

Neither.
Softube Bus Comp was closest to my hardware G clone, so I retired the SSL bus comp v2.
