Well it was a fantastic update for me anyway. Admiral Bumblebee the guy who makes flow charts on DAWs hated it, but you can't please everybee.

What happened to the rest of big named DAWS?
Can’t see Protools, Reason, Waveform etc;
Btw; It’s obvious that the most popular ones will get the bad wrap - most users

They haven't had any worst DAW updates.

:ud:

Anyway, I remember a few updates which let to people crying over how unstable DAW XY is now. Nothing ever happened to me in that regard though, with the same version. Must be my stable PC.

Well, if this poll was made now, Reason 12 would easily take the lead - 6 months in it still isn't working properly for a lot of people and is fairly glitchy for the rest of them. It's usable, but shouldn't be released in that state.

Surely the worst update of all time must be the legendary Tracktion 3?

Mackie bought/invested in it, made it look crap, added loads of unwanted shite and made it really unstable.

Effectively killed it till it's resurrection a few years back by the original author & co.

There was an update? :hihi:

I'm not too impressed with Cubase 12 - middle of February and it's not here yet. :(

Ouch, direct attack. That hurts. It is true that they did abandon it, but the rest I disagree. It looks the exact same. Added good stuff like folder tracks, time stretching, multicore support.

The worst update is NO update, unless it’s perfect :D

It went all bright and lemoney? Then they took the colour editor out or something..? Too long ago.

Whatever, I guess I was stung as I'd been there since the start (even only joined KvR as that's where Jules was fielding support requests). I like the ideas they were going for but just found it so buggy. Was forever crashing on me, plugin scans taking literally hours, Mackie didn't seem to care, just something they could bundle with their interfaces... I jumped ship.

So genuinely glad to see they got things back on track with v4 and it's obviously come on leaps and bounds since then.

FL 7 to 8 I think it was. The day I left FL Studio for Cubase.

That sounds pretty awful. The worst one I've seen was when Cakewalk released Sonar X1. I actually liked it and it ran pretty stable for me, but man did that ever set off a sh!tstorm with long-time Sonar users.
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Slim Phatty | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

I rec'd Tracktion 3 as a freebie with something from Mackie and it never made it past a few moments running before it crashed miserably. I so totally agree with you. I never saw a more unstable piece of software.

The issue with Sonar X1, I think, had to do with the introduction of Skylight. It took a while for many to become accustomed to it, but first, the howling was long and loud. Finally, I think, most did begin to appreciate it.

Oh jeez if we're talking of all time, it's a wash really.

DP4 - only brought OS X compatibility, and took years, it's essentially why I'm one of the only users around here, they fell far behind Logic when Apple purchased it and it ported to X fast of course.

Live 8.0- It was buggy as it gets, then M4L landed making it buggier. They literally issued a public apology for releasing it.

Logic 7.0- It added a ton of features, making Logic what we think of it today, adding all the paid for previosuly Logic instruments. It also crashed on some of us when nothing was happening and the transport was stopped, just sitting there it would kill itself.

Honorable mention to Cubase for promising to fix bugs then announcing they wouldn't be fixed until a paid upgrade. :dog:
