Makes sense, the three posted screenshots had a width of 3770 pixels before I shrunk them to be able to get below 1MB per screenshot and still keep quality for posting.

Good to see at least the stock devices being worked on for higher resolution but my hopes would be for other RE developers, at least the one's that I have RE's by such as Rob Papen, and Richard from Synapse to update the RE's they have made to accommodate a high resolution rack format. Trying to use the Predator RE for example just isn't fun in Studio One. It would be good to see that get a more modern revamped reskin as an option to choose from also.

Here's Reason 11 Lite which if you are lucky, you might find in your Focusrite account if you have one.. :-) . It's very weird to be using Reason's rack in Studio One though, but quite fun also I have to say.

I rather hope it will still be within Reason 11 and not a full, paid, update. After all Reason has had very little real development since Reason 11 came out - just adding a couple more plugin formats and devices.

Post

You can bet they'll want to charge for this update.

Yep! It will probably be "Reason 12." I"m worried about their DAW and plugin development, however... I really hope they think about simple workflow improvements like giving mute&solo a hotkey in their daw.

It's a big chunk of work because it includes many things. We're re-architecturing all of Reason to be GPU accelerated with a new graphics framework, designing how Reason and Rack Plugin will adapt to your resolution, preparing the Rack Extension build pipelines and distribution system, sorting out how compatibility between versions will work when REs have hi-res assets, re-making all Reason and native device assets that aren't already hi-res and so on. :)
A bit more ambitious than expected.

I'd settle quite happily for the assets as they are with a simple resizable window in the rack, have someone pound out all graphics over time -- then again I'm all about functionality and magnifying some icons is not an issue.
Have you tried Vital?

Still looks really dated and fiddly to me even in glorious high resolution. Its not hardware, don't limit yourself with hardware paradigms...its 2020
As long as it's readable and done well, skeuomorphism is fine with me. So is clean and modern. My issue is with the size and efficiency, not the look.

BTW, you might want to adjust your reference decade.

There's tons of other DAWs which are not like that, so why would they change the only thing that sets Reason apart from other DAWs?

I'm just learning Voltage2 and also found easier

at least can see some diff. between the devices based on their functionality (and able to remember to them more easily )

I'm having a hard time seeing why this is relevant to this thread.

I can see one main reason, you can scale Voltage 2's GUI up to see the modules, rather than being tiny at 1440p as the current Reason devices are. It's for that reason that Propellerheads Rack / VST Rack needs to do the same and with the ease that is capable with Voltage 2.

I really think so as there hasn't been a single functionality (not that this is really either but)
in any of the 11 point updates.

My guess is it'll be in 11.5 in February 2021 and Reason 12 in May.
